Hi folks! I just realized I listed several capacitors incorrectly in the BOM on my GitHub page. The document has since been corrected. Capacitors C4, C5, C8, C9 were listed as 22pf, but should have been 68nF as shown on the Retronic Design schematic in the video and on their website. The package of these capacitors are similar (radial 5mm) so no changes to the PCB is required.

Nice tutorial!!! This is a wonderful introduction to microcontroller world!!! Cheers from Retronic Design!

Thank you for your kind feedback, and thanks again for producing that mouse driver so quickly when we talked about the Driving Controller issue just over a year ago!

@@SteveGuidi You deserve it! I’m actually working on a new firmware (3.3) that will improve latency performance in some demanding games. I will also release some cumulative improvements I made on some specific controller firmware. A latency test tool with few external components will also be released « open-source and open-hardware ». Only needed thing will be a sound card to trigger an external pin. Audio cards has DAW capabilities for auto-benching their round-trip latency. I’ll take advantage of this! 😉

This was such a joy to watch, very nice tutorial too! Your voice is also very smooth Greetings from Mexico! I might consider this due to the trackball

Thank you for your kind feedback! Keep in mind that the Wico trackball I showed in the video won't work with the adapter unless you power it on your own. The adapter can only provide 40mA of current and the trackball requires much more than that. Other trackball devices might be different though.

At the risk of being pedantic, DE-9. There's no such thing as a DB-9. B being the backshell size. The wide 25 pin serial connectors with two rows of pins are a B size backshell. The 9 pin connector is an e size backshell.

Funny, what I'm actually looking for is something to plug a modern or semi-modern joystick into my old C128 (I have a great old Gravis Gamepad sitting around, which would require an adapter to use on a modern system too).

I'm actually looking for a quasi-Gravis Gamepad for a vintage PC… Effectively, I want a modern thumbstick instead of the Gravis's weird D-pad that isn't really quite a good D-pad. Specifically though, if you have an old Raspberry Pi with Bluetooth (for modern wireless) there's a project called ninepin that will make it interface with your old Pi. But if you're willing to do a little bit of hacking … The Raspberry Pi Pico W is more in line with the Arduino (it's an ARM chip, but a very small one) and it has both USB and Bluetooth. I don't know of a ready-made program for the Pico W to turn the Pico W into a nine pin C128 joystick, but it can't be too hard to make it work. The new Arduino Uno R4 is also a possibility (R4, not R3!) Plus using a microcontroller means you can attach a little OLED screen and a couple of buttons. The C128 has two joystick ports and one of them is often used for one of two kinds of mouse … A little UI on the microcontroller will let you decide what device goes where. Existing USB adapters can do this, but they're finicky and can't be easily modified once you buy them. Modern microcontrollers make this kind of thing really easy, so that's where I'd put my effort.

26:13 Lol yep clearly different, I see you copied Atari's matching confusing shell design for two very different input standards.😄I think the Paddle shape is fine since I don't have any preconceived notion of what that should look like, but with the name Driving Controller I've been working on a design that's more fitting to that title.
