This was painful to watch. Mad props for getting it "done", though.

It was often time painful to build. But we're very pleased with the results. Still more work to do though.

Beautiful, looks like some of the old Barnes they used to build, one you still see. Good luck, great job

wow what an epic journey!!! so awesome!!! I could actually taste the insulation dust when you had the indoor dusting lol!!!

It turns out, using blown in insulation with fabric walls is a stupid idea. But we can still keep a 50F difference between the rooms and the outside.

Finally a construction video with a realistic amount of cursing.

Можно было сделать раму или кондуктор и с его помощью поднимать, чтоб не колбасило.)

You guys live n a cold environment. Glad you got it covered do you think just the house wrap will keep it from leaking. What kind of heat are you using in there? Wood is so warm .

We're in the high desert, so temp ranges from 0F to 130F. The covering is architectural fabric. The same stuff used on the roof of the Denver Airport. It's dry inside. We were using Mr. Buddy propane heaters, and when it was 20F outside, we had it up to 80F in the bedrooms. Now during the Summer it can be 130F outside and I have an AC unit in one room and have gotten it to 70F in that room on the solar power. We also have a wood stove that I'll need to install this winter.

Very cool. How long are your trusses?

next time (if there is a next time) build the loft structure first then build the arches off of that, easy peasy lemon squeezy !!
@aegismountain
@aegismountain 10 месяцев назад
Yes but figuring out where the loft would be as the arch slopes in requires more math than I want to do. :D

Hi tyler were did you get the fabric you put on your Dome tks.
@aegismountain
@aegismountain 10 месяцев назад
Not Tyler, but the fabric came from the repurposedmaterials.com website. Unfortunately I think they're out. I was just searching for "dome fabric" at the time.

@ 28:54 hire someone to spray foam the interior / it will make it rigid and structurally sound and insulate too
@aegismountain
@aegismountain 10 месяцев назад
Unfortunately, at this point hiring anyone wasn't affordable. We were trying to get it living before I started applying for jobs again.

I think you should have built all of them like the first one
@aegismountain
@aegismountain 10 месяцев назад
Maybe. We ended up having to take a lot of the spacer boards off though to tie them all together. So it was more work

Hi you should have cut your wood 1"x 4" cause it's going to shrink to 3/4x33/4
@aegismountain
@aegismountain 10 месяцев назад
I wasn't worried about what the actual size was as long as it held up. And cutting it like we did resulted in having to cut down less trees. The structure has already withstood the harshest winter this area has seen in recent memory.

Good and nice building idea But you guys need to watch your words 😅

Don't use this structure for human habitation. It is not safe or anywhere near the stability and strength that meets any engineering standards.

It looks nice and all would’ve been easier to make A frame doing all this you’re doing, you could’ve been dried in already
@aegismountain
@aegismountain 10 месяцев назад
BOOOOOORING! 😉 It is dried in now. And survived the worst winter this area has seen in a long time.
