I don't do Facebook so apologies for asking a question here. If you make a hero a defence specialist and give him a shield, doesn't this bump his defence factor up to six making him impossible to wound?

Hi Ralph, Thanks for the question and thank you for your video! (it has shown me a few issues so far) I'm currently watching your video now and I'm writing up an errata. It looks like there is a sentence missing from that section. There should be a sentence that says "A wound roll of a 6 is always successful".

@@brethrentabletopwargame Thanks - I hadn't imagined that my video would catch your attention, but I'm glad it has as I am enjoying the rules and hope this comes across. The way I had decided to game this particular issue was, when required to roll higher than a six, to roll six followed by a second six. This device is used in some rulesets (Bolt Action maybe? - can't remember for sure). If six always succeeds then it makes spending points on items such as a shield a waste once the defence factor has reached five. Where will the errata be available for those of us not on Facebook?

@@RalphAstley that's great I'm glad you're enjoying it! Yeah the twin 6's is a bolt action mechanic. So there are some weapons that cause a - 1 to defence modifier to their targets. It basically means that the defence specialist wouldn't suffer these negative modifiers and would still need a 6 to be wounded. I'm only about half way through your video so far so and I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow. I'll try and get the errata uploaded to the website as a PDF before the weekend. My plan is for it to be a living document and I'll continue to update it as other issues arise.

@@RalphAstley Hi Ralph, I had a few notes from your video on a couple of things you picked up. I'll include these in the Errata. Morale - you select any enemy unit from within 6" of a friendly hero. If there are no eligible units within 6" of your hero or you have lost your last hero, you cannot force the enemy to make morale checks. Two Weapons - If a unit is equipped with two 1 handed weapons it allows that unit to re-roll a single failed hit roll - this is found under the equipment section in the "second hand weapon" box. Points Cost for Huscarl should be 20 points not 18. That was a typo that was missed. To see modifiers for weapons in the faction book, check the specific unit card. With swords as an example it will say on that unit's specific card what modifiers the sword will give. When rolling to wound, A roll of a 6 is always successful. Unfortunately it looks like this sentence was accidently removed during editing. So the Defence specialist with a shield can still be wounded on a 6. When a unit has been engaged by an opponent, they are no longer able to activate. Again it looks like there is a sentence missing from the activation section. Just for clarification on charging, during playtesting it became clear that being able to charge from under 3" was very imbalanced as it meant that people could charge every turn and get constant charge bonuses which is why the 3" limit was put in place. And a further clarification to reacting to combat. It also became clear that reacting to any incoming attack was overpowered which is why it was limited to charging as the attacking player also has a bonus. Apologies for the long message 😂 but I hope it's addressed a lot of your concerns 🙂 And thanks again for the video, it's been a massive help!

I'll try to video another game in the near future and incorporate your clarifications into the gameplay. Congratulations on an enjoyable set of rules. I'm looking forward to more games.
