Assembly maybe simple, ALL the other measurements and just knowledge it takes to put a motor like this together is the HARD part...if these guys did all the measurements and picked parts for you and checked clearances and sent it to you it would be easy for assembly. Doing all of the other works the hard part. Great job guys

I thought about building a really high-revving LS engine and that would take the RPMs all the time so I started looking into Australian LS engines because they build them and put them in a box and hold them at 7,500 RPM and higher on LS Motors when all they do usually it just burn out in the Box in Australia LOL so I started looking into some of them meticulously build-up high-revving LS engines in the hot weather and the reason why is I noticed their engines were taking it and taking it so yeah some Australians have some really good information on the high revving LS1 in LS2 builds.. I've also seen a 4.8 LS1 crank stuffed into an LS3 block 8000 + RPM and still making power

Kinda wish I went with a larger dome piston for my 408. But 5cc domes are still a decent setup I think. Shooting for 12.5:1 to 13:1

Now we got our dial "indicator" centered on zero. Its only a bore gauge when used in a bore. The dick in me felt the need to point this out. Sweet engine btw

How do you determine time between rebuilds with a race motor, and what can you do to increase longevity?

I saw you milled some LS3 heads like 80-90 thou. How did you get the intake manifold to line up? I’m milling mine down to around 60cc chambers. I’m just worried about my intake not lining up.

@@romangarza7561 I’m not sure if getting some done pistons versus getting my 823 heads milled, which would be better for more compression, roughly 11.5:1, I do plan on making my LY6 into a 416
@romangarza7561
@romangarza7561 Год назад
@@ChuyBackyardBuildz I would honestly just get the domed pistons. Milling the heads causes alignment issues. I’ll be fine with what I’m doing and I was able to do a little finagling to make everything work but if I ever do this again, I’m going domed pistons before milling.

I was thinking about building an LS engine but wasn't planning on using smeding performance for parts or maching. Tell me there is a price i can add to build my own engine with you and i'm in!!! Not even kidding. What is the extra cost for you to walk me through assembling my own engine? That would be so much fun and just a crazy cool to be able to drive a car knowing i put the engine together. For real someone contact me!

Great content .. how much CR can you run an ls with pump gas ?
@JacobVillemain
@JacobVillemain Год назад
I recommend 11.5:1 as the max to run with pump gasoline in an LS. Yes, you can run more, but you might have to retard the ignition timing due to the increase in cylinder pressure. Retarding the ignition timing can & will negate the horsepower gains you achieved with the increase in compression ratio. 11.5:1 seems to be the sweet spot.
