Building A Large Mezzanine With Stair Case

In this video, we add a large mezzanine and stair case to one of our previous build series. Adding this large mezzanine allowed our client to utilize a ton more space in his shop, and by having the large stair case, it will easily be accessible even when carrying items to or from the storage space.
Building a mezzanine is a great cost effective way to gain additional storage in a shop or garage without needing to make the footprint larger.
If you want to go watch this building be erected as a full build series, below is the link.

*Very easy to set up and use, attractive but be sure you understand the height--it's not tall. The heat is not overwhelming, but steady and pleasant fireplace **fireplace.homes** . It's quiet, too. I like the possibility of easily moving it from room to room in the event we want supplemental heat elsewhere. Definitely a good buy.*

Kudos Kyle & Co. This is a young man's work and you guys rock. I'm over 60 now, and drove tractor trailers most of my life until I blew out my back. Recently had to put all my schtuff into storage, our home and my shop. Saw a 12' x 40' stall where a tenant had built a loft to stow some of his stuff and I asked the owner of the storage facility if I could build one of these mezzanines inside my unit. Long story short . . . He loved what I did (six months ago) and now I have built a total of three of these, including one for the owner himself - with "Folding" stairs ! He's very excited about it and asked me to get some sort of list to show his other tenants. So now I have a "brochure" and have two more jobs pending already ! In order to speed things up and be able to make intelligent estimates for my materials and labor I started brushing up on my 3-D modeling using SketchUp. I studied Autodesk Maya in college some ten years ago after blowing out my back, but SketchUp is just fine for this stuff. Then I run across your videos ! I subbed after the first video, actually only halfway through. I knew I wanted to see more of your work. Great stuff dude. Really, you do good work. Thanks for the videos too. Like I said, this work is for young guys like yourself. My back is killing me, but I need the income and can't, absolutely CAN'T drive a truck anymore. I work for myself and I can pace myself according to my bodies abilities. Looking forward to many more videos . . . Currently binging out on - Part 3: 80' Truss Install With 2 Guys: Large WorkShop series. Love it guys !

I love my mezzanine in my shed. Not only does it give me the room up above for storage, but also a lockable, heated room down below and an area for hardware where the ceiling is 8' and can be lighted real well. They make a lot of extra usable space if your not parking big machinery back there.

Love watching you guys using pine, working with a such soft timber sure makes things look easy, where I live we use Jarrah for building timbers, when I was poor I used recycled Jarrah, man that's as hard as steel, every piece has to be predrilled.

@EcoMouseChannel 3 года назад
@@user-hd8ej8yx9p Steel is forever, I can store heavy and functional equipment on the top. Plus it was actually pretty fast to make from scratch. The stairs were the only thing that took the most individual time out of the whole project.

did you save on labor cost or did the materials catch up? how much space is yours taking up, looking to build a second floor.
@EcoMouseChannel
@EcoMouseChannel 2 года назад
@@mysteriousknowledgetexts9809 I ended up going with steel pallet racking as my base legs. I saved tons of money, plus I can literally store tons on top. I did in fact make a stair case out of steel tubing, tread plate etc. I have about 420 sq ft. And with every two sections of pallet rack I add, I can increase the floor space by 210 sq ft. I made the decking out of two layers of opposite stacked 4x8 heavy duty plywood, screwed to a steel ladder frame that I lifted in place with a forklift into three sections that I was able to bolt together once laid on top of the pallet racking. The whole project only cost me $1800 for everything.

We did post frame construction and built many barns, sheds and multipurpose buildings such as restaurants and stores. Some call it pole barns.
