Building a Mobile Refinery to Drain Our Oil Rig! [S5E30] STORMWORKS 

I struggled to build a refinery that would maintain temperature or produce more diesel than it used. I think I had a breakthrough last night. TLDR - 1) Focus on heating the volume inside distillation column first, crude oil second. 2) Regulate heat AND PRESSURE The deets - > I'm using the Prof's 1-block wide column design. > I switched to an electric furnace on wall power. My previous attempts with diesel furnaces used more than they created. I'll try diesel again after I get electric nailed down. > Pump air into the column until you reach ~55 atm. >> Circulate air thru the furnace until the column reaches a set temperature (I've tested 310 and 320) >> This will only take a minute or two at 55 atm with a large pump. > Use a variable valve to slowly introduce crude into the pre-heated column. Open the valve slowly to increase flow while maintaining minimum column temperature. >> The cold crude will instantly flash into diesel and jet fuel as it enters the pre-heated column. >> I use an up/down counter at a rate of 0.0001 per tick, clamp (0,1). If column temp > set point, count up, else count down. Reset to 0. > Temps will fluctuate but reach equilibrium after a few minutes. The variable oil valve will reach 100% open and column temperature will continue to rise. >> At this point pressure in the column (55 atm) is probably limiting the flow of crude into the column, even with a large pump in the crude tank. >> I am still testing the best way to optimize pressure to achieve max high flow rate and maintain minimum temperature. Two paths forward: >>>> Lower the pressure in the column (flow increase below 55 atm, but process seems to die below 50 atm). >>>> Increase pressure in the crude tank to match distillation column (next thing to try) PS - Everything is regulated with a microcontroller. Throttle 1 to set desired column pressure. Throttle 2 to set minimum column temperature. Build a proper air compressor with large pump, small tank and valves to let pressure into and out of the distillation column. PPS - Love the Prof's videos. I'm not caught up yet. No idea if other people are still struggling with this or not. I assume they are.

Idea if you use the diesel furnace to power itself while refininf maybe using the numerical valves to regulate flow? maybe one is at 0.70 open and the other 0.30 thats acutally a thing to find outhow to set up the valves so enough goes to the furnace while filing up the station.

Please upload this to the workshop as fast as possible, I need it, bad, especially when I'm running multiple rigs

Hindsight could've loaded the oil onto large vtol, i believe it was empty and despawned tanker tank sooner. but some outriggers to help stabilize your refinery and candouble as mechanic to right the mobile refinery should it flip would be recommended.

The thumbnail made me remember how they should add tank tracks being able to have suspension or paddles

Add a electricity cable for the mob. ref.

Would a version that just uses electric furnace be worthwhile? If you're using it from your base anyway, just plug in when you are refining.

I recomend that if you want to leave it at the oil rig add a anti wave magnets (If you decide to make the magnets add them to the tank tanker please)

Could you do a mobile refinery with an electric furnace? Would be nice, especially for just refining at a spawn

And this is why I turn off the natural disasters, they are just ridiculous to deal with. The weather itself provides enough difficulty IMO. Now, when can we expect a new series using Zizo’s mods that make the game better?? I volunteer as tribute to assist 😂
