Howdy Paul, how's The Bearded Carpenter? Thanks again for last night. I have been watching this episode to get the length of one side side of the base as it is an equilateral Triangle. You fabricated on the ground the parts for the Upper Hoist then lifted them up on the upper floor. You told the size of the base 2 x 6 but not give the length of the Base triangle length from tip to tip. I got that the lower hoist legs were about 13'. In closing can you take a photo of brother Wayne's grinder disk and a photo for what the log veneer looks like after being ground, sounds interesting. God Bless you all, today!

Howdy Paul. Got to spend a fair amount working in the woods last couple days. I have been figuring out how much wood from the blow over I have to see what I figure on building based on what I find out after I done pealing and bark spud work at base end. I am using Douglas fir and they have thick bark at the but end. Walking about counting downed logs I am right near sure 1 story, no second floor nor a knee wall for a head knocking 2nd floor. Been watching "The New Log Hoist" (10 times this morning and again tonight). I decided to ask a simple question before we talk any numbers based on you advice.. 1. Will the the "New Log Hoist" work for getting at the most is to put 2 logs over the doors and windows, say couple 12"-14" logs? 2. Will I need to build one closer to the dimensions of the one you used the on first floor to get my logs that high? Well depending on the answer these two questions we can get numbers necessary for my needs then. Paul you folk the at Bearded Carpenter take care and may God Bless you all. Tom
@TheBeardedCarpenter
@TheBeardedCarpenter 2 года назад
Howdy Tom- the hoist in the video was built just for getting the last rounds of logs up and to set the rafters. You would need a hoist like the one I use setting logs up to the second floor joists. My hoist has a 16’ boom and would more than likely do what you need. The legs would need to be longer to support the height of the boom and the base of the boom would need to rest at the back corner of the base. Hope this helps. I sure wish you the very best with your build. Take care and God’s blessings to you
