The Blacksmith Forge that i built last time did not hold up to well. And that is an understatement, it lasted two burns. I should have used refractory concrete in the first place. The build quality of the forge is great, so it's just a matter of removing and replacing the isolation and the old cement and replace it with the new products.
In this video i show you how i DESTROY and rebuild my propane powered blacksmith forge, this time with refractory concrete. I show you how i aply everything and how to cure the refractory cement.
I even improved the forge a bit by isolating it even more! Forging damascus goes without any problems now!

Looks really good! I myself am looking into getting/building a forge. Then again, I should probably take a lesson in smithing first.

Is that cement or proper castable refractory, cement is no good for this type of forge application.

Proper castable refractory for maximum 1700 Celsius, already 6 months old and still in almost perfect condition. I used refractory cement in the first video and that melted the second time i used the forge, that was no good indeed!

@@lenblacksmith8559 thanks! The forge indeed is awesome! Takes around a hour to completely warm up. Once it's hot it's verry economic. If i would make the forge again i would do it exectly the same.

@@ZjakkooBlacksmith Yeah mate, I used 1650 on the floor and roof gun cast and on the floor like you I had a good layer of Kaowool then the castable. Used insulating firebricks on the side like you, mine takes a while to warm up but when it does, boy does it heat the steel.
