New shop space was a complete surprise. I like your new table. Being steel and heavy no worry that it will walk away. I enjoyed the project. I love your drainage videos but I also enjoy your project videos as well. 👍
Great work on the table. One thing that I would suggest is to round off the corners of the table surface. Running your pelvic area into those sharp metal corners will ruin your day.
You are the third guy this month I’ve seen on RU-vid build himself a steel bench, DieselCreek, Victory Outdoor now Gate City. I’m looking forward to the day I get a shop and build myself one of these bad boys!
Now that you have a shop you should definitely add a gantry crane or an electric hoist on the ceiling. Awesome shop and great job on the table I could honestly watch you build things all day you’re good at it.
That was very entertaining, you are quite the handyman, Steel is nice and if properly taken care of will last forever. That finish is beautiful too. I enjoy all of the stuff you put on here.
Those tiles help a lot with acoustics. Reduces a lot of noise. Makes a big difference over time. Looks great man. I'd be worried about those big sharp corners though. They will rip you and your clothes up!
Nice table Shawn, it will hold up to anything you build, or repair on it. and i absolutely LOVE the new shop, that concrete floor looks brand new.. No more working outside, between multiple smaller buildings, now you can have everything out of the weather, under one roof, with enough room to work on anything in your fleet. Also i spied a couple ultra sonic cleaners, one huge one, those are Great i love mine. Great video as always!
I’d like to hear more about the shop! How did you acquire it? Whole shop yours or is it shared? You installed the black/red cabinets? Plans for old shops on your property?
Nice, now you need a Dragon Wagon (DW is a precision welding table with predrilled holes for clamps). I'd include a hepa(or high merv) intake filter on one side of the building & a hazardous-gas exhaust on the other side of the building [for brain & lung health]. Having a clean-air corner is important if you work alone. After some garage welding I experienced the 'Third-man-syndrome' once, the third-man got up & walked around a corner but luckily that dizzy event was on soft grass, though I didn't fall.
Great bench to work on, but no need to be pretty! The mats are nice, but I would've only put them where you walk and not completely under the benches or under the tables. I pick mine up when cleaning to allow condensation or dampness to dry from the floor or bottoms. Easy to remove when drilling or cutting metal to sweep concrete. You can cut them to fit around table legs so your feet can extend under the table.
I like how the table turned out. When cleaning large areas of metal like your table top, i have used a belt sander with good results. I also use a belt sander to clean up the welded seam in square tubing to make a finished paintable surface.
So Much to see here.... New Shop...??? Congrats & So many questions... i kept looking out the windows, it seems like its built, Where ? i see buidlings/shed etc so it seems like its in the yard, out back heh. within the treeline rules out down the road in a buisness park off-site etc. Very nice looking & the door's are well done, Superb build on the Old New table very ingenious on the layout = Nobody will be running off with it. Cant wait to see more.
One thing I have learned when building work or welding tables is to space the bottom shelf up enough to either fit milk crates or 5 gallon buckets under. It’ll collect junk, but the junk will be contained.
btw i think the horizontal banding on this vid has to do with the lights being ever so slightly flickery. it’s possible that changing your frame rate from 30 to 24 could help.
A sweet work space. Looking forward to some videos from it. Congrats. You'll have to do something about your celling lights causing those black bands across your video. There maybe frequency interference.
Great new shop Shaun (you kept this quiet!) Do you have any videos of the move-in and setting it all up? Great to see how you are expanding - this new shop can host a lot of new content - but please also keep up with Drainage videos - which Jeremy and Ronald can co-host!
Sparks from welding and cutting, and pieces of metal and dirt and stones from your boots will soon cut up your matting. All you need is to keep your feet off the cold concrete floor so wooden duckboards would be the thing for your comfort and longevity.
For floor covering a friend of mine went to a farm supplier and bought recycled tyre matting that farmers use in barns for cattle to walk on it should be more melt resistant
I watch Diesel Creek's build, and watched yours, equally enjoyable. Maybe Farmcraft101 and Dirt Perfect needs new tables.... I like the mount on the vice. Maybe threaded collar/bung welded in the table to keep it in place when you're torqueing stuff on it. I think it was great content my friend. Be well.
So what have you done, moved house? won tatts lotto as that is a nice work shop, we would all like to know all about your new workshop down to the nitty gritty, did you build it buy erected it rented it what a video is in order for your followers
Of course I love it. BUT…… where the heck did the new shop come from? Did I miss an episode? Come on Shawn……. Details DETAILS D E T A I L S PLS. thanks
The lights in your shop are making me wanna vomit. When you fast-forward your video, it’s like a strobe light. I don’t have epilepsy, but I think I’m about to get it.😂 What kind of lens wide angle lens are you using? I think that’s part of the wanting to vomit thing I don’t know . I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this to you or not . I don’t read your comments those are your comments . Some people might make me angry at the things they say to you, there is no reason why people need to be mean to one another. One more thing. You need to do something about those table corners. Round them or something like that. You might injure yourself on those corners.. Good job though!
Again an awesome Video! I love the ad hoc and no fuss way you do things. Your new shop is Fan bloody tastic !! I’m soo envious 😅 The work table looks great ! I love your content, I’ve learned so much. Always hangin out for your next posting.
Don't weld over the mats. The best thing about the mats is they are easily replaceable as needed. Take your grinder and touch up the corners of the table to take off the sharp corners.
Looks good Shawn. Have you thought about fitting some height retractable castor wheels so you can move the workbench as you want and still have a stable platform to work on? Just an idea.
Maybe i missed why you are cleaning the top of the table so much. I thought it was going to be a ‘work table’ and it would get dirty the first time you used it. For a table for me it was perfect when just welded on…😂
I absolutely love how you attached the vice. I haven’t seen that done before. Oh I also worry about the sharp corners of the table top. I would just round it half an inch or so. Cheers Steve
Matt @ Diesel Creek made a bench & he put a length of rebar across the short end between the top & bottom shelf to hang all his clumps on in one place 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
