In this video we look at how to build a quality shed on a budget. This is only part tree of what will be a lengthy series that I'm excited to continue working on. In this video we look at part 3 of building a shed, framing the walls. While building a shed for under $250 sounds impossible, with enough thriftiness we should be able to pull in off! make sure to subscribe so you don't miss part 3!

Well in all fairness, he DID say that he is not a good framer. And skilled carpenters do not need a " How to" video. Maybe you should make a video to teach " carpentry skills"? I noticed alot of stuff he could have improved on, but it was informative for the NOVICE Harry J, who wants to build a shed.

@chuckmyntti
@chuckmyntti 6 лет назад
Pay attention to how must dust that saw kicks up. Load a decibel meter on your smart phone and check to see how loud that saw is. Anything above 90 db damages your hearing. I wear hearing protection to vacuum... And you should always wear eye protection on a construction site... A hammer glance off of a nail head could send a piece of steel into your eye.... Dude, seriously.

Chuck Myntti hearing protection to vacuum? Seriously? Pussy patrol is here!! Look Chuck, everybody knows you should wear eye protection and so on. I will if I'm running power equipment that throws sawdust up or unpredictably, like a tablesaw or sawzall. I'm not wearing it for a circular saw. Sawdust gets thrown down and away from you. No mask either. Maybe in an enclosed area, but not outside. Same for hearing. If this guy wants to, fine. If not, he's a grown man and you should shut the fuck up.

A tip for you buddy if your using a circular saw,,,,hold your speed square as a guide to run next to with your saw so u get a perfect straight line
@jerryhubbard4461
@jerryhubbard4461 6 лет назад
If you are good with the saw cross cutting lumber, make a mark on the leading edge of the cut, set the saw on the mark, look at the front of the saw, make it square with the lumber and make the cut. No need for all the marking or use of a square. In time you learn to make a cut quick and sqare.
@DrewMade222

For a stud u want it to be square as possible, use not just your eyes until u get as good as Mr. Hubbard here...
@jerryhubbard4461

I guarantee I can make a cut on a piece of stick framing lumber as straight as you can using the square and much quicker. Doing so come with many cuts and framing. Not trying to say your way is wrong, but with experience, you get that good. Watch some framing videos by the master Larry Hann. He will show you how it's done.

ok , since some of you asked for tips. when u are marking your wall plates (top and bottom 2x4's) always place both plates on edge together on a flat surface and mark BOTH at the same time , it prevents mistakes. and don't mark the side of the 2x4, mark the top ( the 1-1/2 edge) because that's what you will see when you are nailing the 2x4 studs. . also , hook your tape on the end of the plate and mark the plate at 15-1/4" , 31'1/4" , 47-1/4 " etc. and then put the 'x' on the side of the line that is in the direction you are measuring. that way the center of the wall stud will be on 16". 16 , 32, 48, 64, 80 etc should be the MIDDLE or CENTER of the wall stud , NOT the side !!! if you do it any other way you waste wall sheathing (plywood)

Your layout is wrong for 16" on center. The correct way is from 0- 15 1/4" - 31 1/4" - 47 1/4" ..... always 3/4" less then set your head to get 16 of and you should have a space of 14" between each joist or stud

i have read allot of your comments while building the foundation, i didn't read them all and maybe someone left a very important detail if not you are using the wrong fasteners for pressure treated lumber,the manufactures recommend Galvanized,stainless,or a special coated screws because of the the corrosive treatment they use in the lumber,i have done allot of demo work and replacement of treated lumber where regular 16 d nails or standard nails were gone just rusted off,in fact some of what we call acid lumber (the first batch of treated lumber) has caused allot of deaths because of decks falling off buildings,even galvanized nails were corroding,this new treated lumber lumber these days is the third type and they say they are not having problems with it,but as a pro i would never use a not coated nail or screw on any wood that is not protected or covered.

Does your generation with all the tools (internet, phone, ....) available to you take such an outstanding educational and helpful "video" as this and then pollute it with loud and disruptive "music"? I understand that "one man's music is another man's noise", but why offend? How about no music? How about very low volume music?.
