In this video I show you how to build and install a very solid wood door from start to finish, I hope you enjoy this video!
This time was a modern front door but using solid wood, it took me around a week to complete.
This was a front door with a modern design

nice looking door, but I'm afraid it may not hold up very long, especially as an entry door. If you used plywood as the panels it would have a better chance. But those wide solid wood panels would move up to as much as 1/2 inch and sooner rather than later gaps and or cracks would appear and start growing, and that beautiful door would start to fail. Excellent build and I love the Jamb installation, but for your next door, consider either changing the panel material to plywood if you want to glue it in place, or house the panels in a frame and let them float. I love woodworking and those who ply our trade, so I hope you view my advice as encouragement and not criticism. Happy woodworking

I Thank you for the advice so if I use cabinet grade plywood would be fine, cause I’m a carpenter of 10 years made book shelves and cabinets but never a door and my wife knows I’m good with making stuff and she always asking for me to make a fancy door so I’ve been looking at many ideas before I go into building one. Thanks again

@@j.i.a.j8750whatever you do, once you account for wood movement the life of the door as an interior door will be very long. If it's going to be an entry/exterior door, you also have to account for exposure to the elements ie sunlight and precipitation/moisture. Use quality finish to lower the uv effects and keep your door as dry as possible and it will last. All that being said I am an advocate for proper education rather than just advice from a professional, if you spend $20 on a door building book it's almost like you'll have a degree in the subject, all you'll need is practical hours and you'll be the professional 😊 check out anyone of John birchard's books on door building (they're a little dated but excellent) my favorite is Strother Purdy's book it's more modern and he has a wry sense of humor that will make you lol at times, but still the information is quality. There are many other authors that you can check out but those are the ones I've read. That's the best advice I can give you. Happy woodworking

Lo único que vi mal, fueron las últimas vistas que colocaste y ví que no las cortaste a 45°🤔

Another fine job. I especially like the window installation but, as always, your mortise and tenon work is the best! This also looks to be an extremely strong door with the interior framework and the panel glue up. Very very good looking door. A beautiful addition to the house. Thank you for posting. And I hope your finger and thumb are OK. 😀🔨

So many things to learn on every project, on every door, I try this frame technique to have a two sides view, and works fine, just make sure to dry enough the panels before assembling. I hit my fingers in a bad movement, now they are fine! 😃

Yeah, very nice work this... The finger thing happens to me every time... 😅 Even yesterday when I was just trimming a project with a router. Part of the job I guess...

Terrifying watching your eyes 10" from a pin nailer with no glasses. Clearly you've been lucky enough to not experience the 90° direction change from one of those nails.

As a novice woodworker I am wondering how the wood will behave over time. Will it not ‘work’ (swell/contract)? And what did you do to your hands? 😅
@oscaruiz8055

The climate of the place influences a lot but in general as long as there is no humidity there will not be big changes.

I asked to another (more experienced) woodworker and he told me about technique, it works for hus doors, just make sure to dry enough the wood before assembling About my hand, I made a bad movement and hit those fingers, now they are ok 😃

It will swell, it will twist. Humidity exists everywhere.

It’s funny how people keep saying it won’t last first of all the door is sealed and second of all mahogany is a stable wood used for exterior doors

Looks very nice but the build quality is way below par. From a purchase point of view, it shouldn't be much more than 40% of the cost of a traditionally made door.

Bizarre, no clamps to,hold the panels flat, cross the grain sanding and no side braces, lots of gaps, good effort but need to pay more attention to detail.
@Wood_Slice

And no accounting for wood movement. That will most likely crack in 1 season.
