This is my first ever bass guitar build, lots of firsts on this project so there is probably a few things I am doing that aren't perfect or what you would expect from a skilled guitar builder. I learned a lot about bass guitars during this project. Sorry I filmed this vertically, it was easier for getting what I was doing in the shot while still being close.

That is awesome! It'd be cool seeing a Steinberger style headless kit done! I've always loved the iconic shape and sound of them. Great work my friend!

Thank you, I'm sure this won't be my last build. I also like the look of Steinberger headless basses, I might give one a go one day if I can find a decent kit.

If you are also considering this buying/building this bass and have any questions please leave a comment. Depending on how long it's been since this video was posted I may or may not recall everything, but I will answer if I can. That was well done, especially for a first time. Do you remember if you had issues with the neck pocket and being able to set up the bridge? Many of the reviews on these headless kits say that they had to use shims and that the setup was difficult to get right.

@@griffshark thank you. If anything I feel like the pocket should be a little deeper. The neck sticks up above the body quite a bit, around 3/8 of an inch. It seems high in comparison to my other basses. The "head" unit is also complete trash. Ive had nothing but issues with it and lost many many many hours working on just this part. I stripped the hold down nut they gave me, Solo sent a longer one but that has also stripped. I now get a bit of buzzing at the nut on open notes on the E and A strings. Because of this, I don't play it much. The pickups were also total crap, like 1/2 the volume output of my other basses. I ended up replacing them with a set of Ibanez PFR-5 pickups which improved the sound a lot. The bridge is also not great, basically HAVE to have an Allan key on you to tune up, but you can usually tune down without it. I looked at hipshot replacements for both the head and the bridge but that will turn this into a $1500+ bass with what I've spent on it. Not locked on the hipshot replacements, but I've used hipshot hi mass bridges on my other basses and like them; they aslo seemed like the most direct/easiest replacement options. I will probably keep working on it though haha.

Hello, I’m planning to do this, where is the truss rod spot? I’m assuming there is a truss rod, where would the adjustment spot be? At the end of the neck heel?
@KJL00
@KJL00 3 года назад
It's at the end of the neck (head). Pretty easy to get at.
