I enjoyed the narrative you were giving and the back story of the ''struggle'' and the ''meat'' that goes into the work sites to get the projects done. It makes me feel better that I'm not the only one that struggle to get suff done!

I enjoyed the commentary. I dont know things as well as others. This helps me understand a bit better. Helps me know what to look for if I ever need to have work done.

Only this week we were thinking of how to replace the old sleeper wall in front of the office buildings. A rock wall was the best and obvious solution but none of us has ever built one. I can show my boss this as a good example now. Thanks Stan and men. You guys build good stuff.
@@Dirtmonkey Yup, we do most of our little projects ourselves as a break from farming and to give ourselves that feeling that we 'Built that ourselves', that good way to gain knowledge and to share the work experience. At one time the company was much larger with drill rigs all over Australia, land development and residential building as well as thousands of hectares of cane and cattle. The Big Boss passed away and the Young Bloke has been winding back over the last ten years so that many of the employees have left and those who remain just love share their knowledge and skills (and to try new things for fun). Don't worry, we always get professional advice such as engineers, and tradesmen whenever needed as they were often a part of the larger group of companies. Heck, I reckon we have enough dozers, backhoes, excavators and heavy haulage vehicles to start another company anytime, but the farms tend to keep 'The Young Master' busy enough for now. Well that and the town sheds , parks, rentals, etc, etc, etc.

Love the wall and steps,love the detailed exploration at how you arrive at such a beautiful wall.The arrival normally involves hard work,a keen eye and applying the knowledge garnered from years of work,just like any great artisan. As a landscape architect, the commentary indicates that you were thinking the same as me...fabric, washed stone, leveling, etc. Aren't you glad that railroad ties are finally recognized as a temporary solution? Keep up the great techniques educating the public that there's more than meets the eye to all landscape and site work projects.

Absolutely like you in the background giving the history of the employees as well as what they are doing and why they are doing it. I automatically felt like I was a part of the crew.
Wow, I am not into wall building but when you talked about the fabric and how it keeps the dirt and sand in but allows the water to flow through and what happens if you just use a simple piece of plastic I enjoyed that. I now know when to spot when someone is doing it wrong. Just good information.
Great idea to do the video and excellent end result. Didn't see much detail about how or what they were doing besides tamping base and placing rocks using specialized heavy machinery.
I am a 62 year old woman with my own skid loader. My husband and I just installed a three stair step in the middle of a Boulder wall. This was very informative going forward to set the rest of the boulders. I love rocks and heavy equipment. I think I missed my calling.
I like your narration and explaining everything. Good amount of phasing in and out with that. Also appreciate you including the good and challenges of the job. Awesome video. Love watching!
Insight & input during observation is essential (for me) ; especially being the boss / & not being on site to give input & make decisions. Over explaining things reeeeeally helps the way & the how ... I'm just a guy, with just a house, that just needs ... a lot. All info that comes from experience is helpful & useful. Thank You for all you do & all the time you take to do it. (...any company is only as good as the people that work for it ; Big Kudos to your crew too!!)
Love the videos stan.especially how not only do you show the work being done but you explain how and why your doing everything you do to get all the jobs done efficiently and correctly without cutting corners and still giving nothing but high quality work. Not only that but how explain what was/went wrong with the jobs you have to redo that someone else has done that failed!!! Oh and the drink your drinking in the video is called pellegrino which is pronounced pel-le-gri-no!!
Stan, narrative definitely lets you add useful commentary that would be overlooked during the live action shots. If there is a plot plan it would be useful to include just to help orientate the viewers. The wall definitely added character and value to the owners backyard versus the railroad ties.

Good format. Probably easier to get footage that way too. Serious landscape construction like this is difficult intrinsically. There is no blueprint, no exacting material, infinitely variable. It's mostly an idea or plan. Making it seem natural and blending is not something everyone can do. Nobody knows what it will look like, or maybe what it should look like. But anyone can spot it a mile off when it doesn't look right. Your right hand man is doing a hell of a job for you. You're lucky to have him, it is a hard to find skill. Thanks for sharing
@@Dirtmonkey I had my own excavating company for a while. Primarily residential - new construction. Occasional pond, estate development, farm work. I never had to advertise, the finished jobs did it for me. -BUT-, I could not duplicate it. It was unable to be hired. So, .....been there...
Stan!! when you said left or right, l also forget to us men it don't matter because we allready know were we need to be in our head. It dont matter if you make the wrong turn becouse we know we can fix it..l enjoy your work and will allways watch you and learn from your work direction wrong or right. It's remembering were you Need to be and don't let anything get in the way. Keep on going mate enjoying your work, just don't forget to love your boss more than anything keep her fully charged and get her involved in any way possible. Us Men are like a tools that works hard to get the job done! but with out the best battery were broken. KICK ASS STAN THE MAN. I like your commentary, Stan. The extra bits of background into is appreciated..... I've got a side area along my property's west border that needs a 3 foot x 80 foot retaining wall. it's just a 10 foot wide area between the house and the fence, but it's totally unusable because of the slope down. (House plot next door is lower....) But alas, I'm in Oregon........
