Great video. I absolutely love Babdai kits. Nothing better than hearing the click noise when assembling. I still have C3P0, AT-AT and Trooper to build.

Stormtrooper is armed with a German WWII MG-34 and a Sten gun side arm.

actually the rifle is a DLT-19 heavy blaster, the smaller gun is a E-11 blaster rifle, and the pistol is a SE-14r light repeating blaster, (btw yes i know your talking about what the real guns are and i like it to i'm just saying that's what the guns are in star wars)

Great build! I'd like to see Ban Dai do some more of the iconic characters, maybe Luke & Leia, or Ben kenobi. What is their problem with faces, I wonder?

Excellent work, the 501st Legion Commander looks fetching in his blue lined armor and really looks like he's been in the thick of it with those pesky rebels!

I've been painting miniatures for awhile. Always used Citadel paints and learnt to paint in the "Games Workshop" style which is great for miniature scale. Larger scales like these Bandai kits call for a whole different skill set. Its fun learning to do things in a new way and your vids are really helpful. I actually have a paper pad and pen whilst I watch them so I can make notes.

ModelChili Scale Models I love painting fantasy miniatures. I don't have time to do any actual wargaming so I just get miniatures I like from any brand and give it a go. The goblins and ghouls, the undead, the Knights and warriors take me right back toy childhood love of fighting fantasy books and when I used to play Warhammer fantasy with my skeleton army. Anyway, thank you for the vids it's very enjoyable to watch a build by a skilled modeller and painter.

This is fantastic. I had no idea they did these kits in this scale. With the smaller kits you can get away with minimal paint but this scale I would think you'd need to put a lot more paint work into them. Never painted something at this scale before, good thing I've got this vid as a guide :-)

Thanks again! Yeah at this scale the mistakes become more apparent so you need to be a bit more careful, this is why I don't do large scale aircraft. Those need another whole level of skill. :/

ModelChili Scale Models I have the Bandai TIE Striker kit which I'm quite looking forward to doing. It should have enough cross over skill from miniature painting, looks like it'll need similar skills to painting a Warhammer 40k battle tank. Did get some ideas from your build for that model though so should be fun. I'd be very nervous about taking on a larger scale vehicle model kit though.

It's a Sideshow version btw :P Perhaps another trooper would be a Magma trooper from Star Wars Battlefront? You'd need to build the extra shin armour and breather kit. Or perhaps a Nova Trooper from the EU

also fantastic work. The Stormtrooper commander is my favourite variant of the stormtrooper and you've really done him justice. Looks as good, if not better, than the Sideshow Version (which I own!) though the "fork" part of his chest armour looks a little off, too high up and a little bit thin perhaps. Hard to say from just photo's, but otherwise 10/10!

Ah cool well it was either going to be Hot Toys or Sideshow lol. Yeah the pattern isn't 100% accurate, I knew that it wouldn't be, it's hard to get measurements from photos but various different reproductions seem to show slightly different thicknesses. But thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it!

The E-11 is a Sterling Mark 4 and the DLT-19 is a MG-34.

Thanks! Not really, sometimes acrylics will rub off the plastic if a piece gets knocked or rubs against another part, but I use that to my advantage with the chipping technique. Once the Tamiya clear coat goes down it's pretty durable, you'd really have to try to scratch it.

hey chili any advice on how to paint realistic wood? I am making the fury tank and I'm trying to make the logs at the sides but I don't know how if you have any tips pls say or else I can just take small pieces of real wood

I've not done much wood painting myself except on the Fury tank. I just got a mix of brown paints, and starting from the darkest I built up patchy layers then finished off the freshly chopped edges with a lighter wood colour. There's probably a lot of better videos than what I've done lol.

I just Googled Stormtrooper Commander and that was one of the images that came up. It's a Slideshow figure I believe. But yeah a reference for all of these would be awesome. I think the 501st official site might have something like that.

Hi man, I'm 16 and want to start out model building like you and have noticed you've been using somekind of tool to spray paint on the Bandai star wars model kits and I was wondering what is that ? If anybody could help me or give me advice for starters

It's an airbrush powered by a small air compressor. You can usually buy airbrush/compressor combos online for a reasonable price. There's a lot of videos out there that tells you about how to use them, I haven't got around to making one yet lol.

Cheers! Yeah they're the same scale so would make a nice fit. The joints a bit more obvious without the soft goods though, so that might bother some people.
