What’s the significance of painting a bit of it black?

Thank you! I know it was a Behr paint, and I want to say it was Vermilion Red. But looking online (and I know online vs. IRL swatches can be deceiving) it definitely doesn't look that color. So good luck!

I am using 1/2" rebar 24" long drilled a few inches from the bottom that will be set in concrete, two rods for each side horizontally

I used a handheld post hole digger to create holes about 11 inches deep, then filled them in with dirt. I then spread gravel around the ground around the posts. I've seen others who cemented them, but that can cause water to pool and then rot the posts. YMMV
