thank you. Aluminium is a great heat conductor which means it is terrible for heat distortion. Learning how to predict this takes a lot of years practice in the industry.
Just came across your channel and was curious to how your running.030 or .035 aluminum wire thru a mig setup with such a long lead without a spool gun or push-pull gun set up? I see your welder hanging overhead, but the length of your lead looks pretty long. Single or double feed rollers on the welder? Graphite liner? Please share, thank you
hey. We are in Australia so we are using 1.2mm aluminium 5356 wire. We run SAFRA brand as it is the best for what we have found for feeding. We run a graphite liner with a 4 gear drive rollers using U Grooved rollers for the aluminium. We very rarely have a birds nest with the wire using this set up. We have 3 different welders here 2 x pulse welders and 1 conventional transformer MIG. They all have the same wire set up. I have been welding aluminium for 30 years and not a fan of spool guns due the weight on your wrists and the small wire spool size. I have used push pull guns for many years which are good to get in and around tight places. The length of our lead is 3m long. Hope this helps. If you need more information let me know
