Is you're tank still holding up strong? I just got my own apartment a few months ago and figured out what my floor can hold. Getting a 240 from PetSmart definitely not paying 900$ for a stupid stand.

Nice job, looks great. I'll be doing a DIY stand for my 55 and was contemplating this burnt wood look, but you definitely sealed the deal I am gonna do it as it looks amazing. Watching the video I was wondering how your HOA would let you have such a large tank, but I see your on the ground level.

Just so you know, I’ve used stains that smell horrible like lacquer stain and a small bowl full of coffee grinds absorbs the smell incredibly. You can even see the stain when you dump the grinds. But awesome stand

Nice one made my own as well few years ago but its glossy dark brown all over and rounded on the corners shouldn't have gone with rounded don't look as good
Thank you. One thing about building your first aquarium stand. We learn from it and it gives us a better template so the next design is much better! I’m building all my aquarium stands moving forward. I really like the rustic look of the burned wood. I’ll incorporate it in future builds for sure!
I bought a 8x2x2 with wooden frame and sump and it’s setup, my floor is not concrete, would you recommend I need a steel frame or should the wood hold ok as it did with previous owner though I believe he had concrete floor, thanks
Nice! You got yourself a great setup! Congrats on that! As for supporting that beast of a tank. Concrete floors is definitely best. I would add additional support to my flooring. Can you access it from the bottom to add some additional support? The stand would probably still hold the tankas long as there’s no water damage but the floors are questionable.
Thanks for the reply!, I’ve a wooden floor put down I don’t fancy really tearing it up.. perhaps a steel frame will spread the weight more evenly but then I am adding additional weight to the floor.. by the way it’s a downstairs floor and it’s roughly 6 inches from the wall, I’ve filled it at the minute it seems to be ok though I haven’t added substrate or fish
Honestly bro, I don’t remember. The plywood thickness didn’t matter all that much as long as wasn’t paper thin. And I’m loving it so far. It’s holding up really well!
