Hi! I having the same project like this, It would help me a ton if you can share your project how it made?

Hey dude! I'm working on automatic pill dispenser. Just what you are doing, but i've also designed a "two axis cartesian robot" in order to move the "weekly pill dispenser" just below of the pills exit. This is my final degreee thesis and you have helped to me to have an idea about how I could administrate the pills one by one. I've had an idea like this, but i didin't thought about the agitator piece and the sweeper arm. Congrats and thank you.

If you want to take a look to my final degree thesis, you should wait until the working end due to the university rules. Welcome from Barcelona!

That's awesome. Glad my design helped you!! I spent a great deal of time testing and figuring out how to administrate the pills one by one accurately and consistently. Let me know if you have any questions on the design. I would love to see how your final project turns out!

@@michaelsangiorgio9959 Do you have any issues with missed dispenses? I've considered something similar but rather than assuming one pill per rotation, I was planning on using some sort of a light detection to verify that an object fell. Are your designs are reliable enough that it's unnecessary to verify a dispense?
@michaelsangiorgio9959
@michaelsangiorgio9959 2 года назад
@@FredDamstraThe design of the device ensures that no more than one pill can be dispensed. Including the sensor would be the next step in this project. The sensor would verify that a pill was dispensed and could be used to determine if there is a jam in the system or if the pills need to be refilled.

dude this is fantastic, I wish I found this much sooner before I design my own version. the seems like it's a lot more reliable than mine.

nice design , but there is still a possibility with many pills inside a compartment for an extra pill to fall, especially for small pils

For a long time, I've been seeking for anything similar to this. I have access to a 3D printer and was wondering if there was any way I could obtain the STL files?

Very nice design, you should try it for several thousand pills to drop out. I would prefer one stepper motor for the whole three or more containers. think about less complexity

Hi! We are working on making a pill dispenser for our university project and your video really helped! Is there a way you can provide us with more information about the actual design of the disks? Thank you and greeting from the Netherlands!
@michaelsangiorgio9959
@michaelsangiorgio9959 2 года назад
Hey! The hardest part of designing the disks was getting the slots the correct size and shape to allow only one pill to be dispensed. Getting the slots the correct size took a lot of trial and error. I found that having the pill slide into the slot on an angle and having the top of the pill sit just below the top of the disk while it was in the slot worked best. At first, I thought I could just design the slot to pick up each pill horizontally. But with this design, two pills would sometimes be dispensed at the same time or two pills would get caught upright in the slot and would jam the device once the pills hit the "sweeper arm". Having the pills sit inside the slot on an angle and positioned just below the top of the disk ensured only one pill was collected and if another pill did manage to get caught, the sweeper arm would just brush it off. Pause the video at time 2:22 to get a clear picture of it. The rest of the design of the disk includes a threaded hole at the bottom of it (to secure the motor gear) and the two slots at the top of the disk hold the agitator piece. I'm not sure if this helps.

@@michaelsangiorgio9959 Dear Michael! I am working on a university project about dispensing medicals and I found your video very useful for this project. My problem was the same, dispensing just one medicine, not 2 or 3. My question is that dont you have any cad or stl, stp file about the model? I couldnt really understand the working mechanism, this is why i am asking. Thank you for your helping and your answer as well! P. s: Congratulations for the machine and for the solution! Amazing idea.

Hey that's a very cool project. Can I ask what software was used for animating your dispenser's parts ?

Autodesk Inventor was used to design the parts.

I have a hero and has 10 containers for different pills could use 15. There is no plate for specific size of pill as I can put any pill in any of the 10 containers. Not sure how they do this but has something to do with the resonance they create with stepper motors. It works reasonably well have never seen a multiple drop of a pill but occasionally it cannot pick one.

this look like a patent I saw online at the US patent site. I would suggest you don't violate the IP and Patent.

Hi Michael, Absolutely fantastic design! I have been looking for something like this for a long time. I'm 64 and my wife died a few years ago, since then I have been on a quest to maintain and improve my health, with supplements being just one part of the puzzle. I take anti-oxidants, vitamins, anti-Inflamitants (for my arthritis), supplements to increase my circulation, etc. So right now I I take 19 different supplements for a total of 42 pills a day. I manually sort them into pill bags. One for the morning (23 pills) and one for the evening (19 pills). So, is there any chance you could share your 3d printer files and the specifics of the stepper motors? I will try to expand your design to accommodate my 19 different pill type requirements. I have a 3d printer and just recently started playing with Arduino code but don't know C, so will probably have to try to replicate the functioning of your code in the Arduino environment. Amy help would be greatly appreciated! Carl
