Building An Insane Rear Diffuser For The 240z

Make a list of things you still need to do. Separate that into "must-do" and "would like to do". Things like louvers and diffusers are just eating up time and won't get you rolling. If the car isn't ready in time you are going to be kicking yourself for doing things like that.

I love diffusers however I'm just not feeling this one, too blocky but not my car

Epoxy primer is used as a sealer, not usually sanded, depending on the brand it may even be non sandable, which is why your paper is getting gummy.

I'd say you need to pull a few all-nighters.. like asap. Better safe than sorry. Love the work you guys have been putting in. Keep it up!

Love the build, but I don’t get the Diffusor. It has no purpose except of aesthetics the way you built it. Isn’t it a bit heavy for just aesthetics?

I’m not gonna lie, the sema date closing in started to make me doubt the finish, but I can say hands down I have faith, the progress have been flying in! Keep it up Chris almost there👍

Not a fan of rear diffusers. This reminds me of Tyler Fialko's Cambergini not a SEMA build.

Some wraps you will see the black over spray through in light since the collar it is going over won’t be even now

I will say this...Eric is an incredible resource to you. I would love to see him build something in its entirety. Those front fender bars, rad support, and his welding are on point. The guy clearly knows what he is doing. You guys should B is for Build a tube chassis off road buggy...or try your hand at a prerunner pickup truck.

You go Chris, it’s a crazy build with all the b is for build elements it needs to have. Love it. You need to do the list thing about likes and must haves. There’s no other way in the time you have left. Keep it up, love your work!

I told myself that I would keep an open mind on this build, give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Although I've been skeptical, I've been cheering you with the custom subframe, floorpan, etc. Putting a V10 BMW in a Z car is no small feat and your attention to detail is amazing. BUT, dude these add ones are killing it. Take them all off

Awesome progress dude! Looks like a badass car already. I think the rear diffuser makes it look unique, but if you want it to look more professional I’d make it less blockly - which can be easily done by grinding off a few corners to make it slope upwards at the edges.

I have been watching this from the beginning and am very much enjoying it. He has made a lot of decisions that I wouldn’t of made but, it‘s his car. You have to applaud him for creating this channel out of nearly nothing. For me it’s gone from that will never work to that’s going to be kind of cool to that’s going to look ridiculous. When you put the primer on the body I was beginning to think “wow back to the lines of the original 240. Love it.” But then came the diffuser. What the heck? Anyhow, I still enjoy the channel although this car is starting to look more like a rice rocket been a really cool retro M5.

I'm loving the diffuser! it fits with the rest of your design. Its not even finished but that seems to be the only thing that people can see. Carry on as you are and it will be mint! I actually can't believe how much shit you are getting in the comments for that diffuser. It's almost like as soon as 1 person comments about it a everyone else feels the need to jump on the band wagon and diss it too. Totally fits with the plan for the build. Carry on as you are dudes. Mad respect for everything that you guys do

Damn diffuser looks bad ass!

Chris, you know that stainless gutter trim comes off super easy, I took mine off the other day, start at the base of the A pillar and using ur thumb push the trim toward the A pillar, it folds over and unclips, keep thumbing it in the whole way, install is the same, just don't force it and it wont kink

Ditch the diffuser and get crazy with the exhaust in the rear. Exhaust exit in the rear quarters behind the back tires. The bumper actually looks better cut anyway so no loss there. Keep it clean, real clean.

Love the build and the engineering behind it! And I am very much aware that Looks and taste are a very subjective thing, but this diffusor turned this car from a beautiful restomod classic into a riced up "lookatmeeeeee" machine. Still looking forward to see the whole thing finished and admire the car as a whole!!

The only thing that rear defuser will do is add weight and drag. Needs to curve and connect to the floor at the centre of the car. Great build. Good luck!

Think a dual tip setup on the exhaust would look sweeter than just the resonators/mufflers sticking out the back with no tip on it? Maybe just me, but I think a nice tip installed on the exhaust would look really great! Good stuff Chris!
