I am someone that has DCT(DSG) swapped an old car. Its easy to drive every day, But its pretty flat and boring around town. Just A-B isn't as fun anymore. On track? It's immensely fun! But I'm left wanting a little more day to day. Early Mk2 Golf. 1.9L 20 Valve turbo. Mk6 Ed35 gearbox. Wavetrac diff. Circa 400hp. Just for the record.
Man... I think I understand why youtubers/influencers work. As an audience, we just funnel money into them and live vicariously through them. Watching your guys' videos, I get so jealous. I have an absolutely clapped Miata that I got a year ago. I've been meaning to work on it, I was working on it for a good several months or so but was tired of seeing it on jack stands and now I'm too scared to put it back up. But I mean, more than that I'm just tired in general. Tired of work, tired of having to choose between spending time with my friends or my girlfriend. Having to choose between working on my project car or spending time with my friends. And when I work on my project car, I know it's just not a financially sound choice. Wasting hours on video games is way cheaper than fixing up the Miata. Life lately feels like a long list of procrastinations, unfulfilled dreams, and a lot of 'what ifs'. These videos are inspiring in way that makes me want to continue working on my car, but they're also sobering. I lack the expertise, the tools, the team, the... funds... I wonder if I'll own an RX7 one day.
@@yurcivicsux2245 I know, I have one in my FD. 9280efr 20b with CD00A transmission and 8.8. Lots of money, but the "Ultimate" version of an "Factory style" RX7.
In fairness, you blokes are one of the only channels that I don’t skip the ads so you get max revenue. You and Ben and crew just remind me of my mates and when we work on cars (minus the RU-vid channel obviously) but still great. Keep it up.
I love these types of videos from you guys. There’s truly so much you’re doing over time with individual cars, it’s great to have an individual recap of them.
I know a dude where I work that pulled a manual IS300 out of a field across from our dealership (sat for at least 6 years). He cleaned it up and wound up making pretty good money off it.
The fd is definitely worth putting more love into! Im a honda guy but ive had a rotory and i couldnt help but love them, the functionality of a honda swapped rx7 may be sacrilegious to some but thats the beauty of every builds journey to becoming what you wanted your car to be! I applaud the dedication to see it through til the end! As for my vote a dct would be fun but i think a sequential would be funner
0:27 I have been summoned! If I were to get my hands on an FD without an engine, I would Volvo swap it. Namely a built 90s 5cylinder with ITBs. Maybe with the later six speed transmission, provided it is at all compatible. Suspension wise I would opt for yellow bilstein coilovers and V70R hubs and brakes, all with the purpose of putting on 17' Volvo Eudora wheels. I think those would look incredible on an FD. As for the exterior, I would go for a Mazdaspeed A-Spec kit… wherever the hell I would find one is beyond me though.
Color, seats, interior and in just in one word everything is amazing, If I was going to add anything honestly, I would go for door sealers, door bounds bad
Tell me why i had a dream about yall last night? A eg hatchback with a "k23" engine from an "Acura C3" lol. Craziest part was yall converted it to middle hand drive. Yes the driver seat was in the middle like a Mclaren F1 and it had 3 seats.
now We already get Mitsubishi lancer evo , honda civic , mazda rx-7 k-swap, now we need a video about suzuki cappucino and the toyota MR-S , dont forget about the ford Z28 timelapse too❤
As a fellow honda head who also owes a k swapped ek hatch, I have to say this fd is my favorite of all of your cars. In for more upgrades to this thing 😎
Great content! Learned a lot more about the FD RX7 build from few years ago. But I’m still waiting for Episode 4 of the 2023 Civic Type R rebuild series….
when the engine blew all I could think was you should have upgraded the piston shelves and connecting rods as well as other internals to be able to handle all that power effectively 😅 I love the build tho, a FD RX7 is one of my all time favorite cars
Wasn’t a big fan of the K swap but learning that it CAME with it when you bought it, doesn’t bother me as much anymore. Still a cool swap, just not my cup of tea
While it's not true to the rotary spirit of the car, I think Honda has some of the best balanced 4 cylinder motors, and wouldn't ever consider swapping an I6/V6 or bigger into the car. I feel like it would change the handling behavior too much, and well built K engines seem to be the sweet spot for power/reliability. I'm sure they come at a cost, though, looking at everything done to this one (not just the motor).
