This is the first time I have seen this method.. its brilliant to keep from expanding the fitted exterior of the box and to virtually eliminate the fairing on the top that would typically be done with bod and filler(and is a TON of work) to get as smooth the original stretched fabric!! And it's way less work to fix the hole in the bottom since nobody will see it. Awesome job!! Thinking out of the box!!
I was looking for a way to bond the base form and felt top without a gap/space to wrap around the outside edges. Love the glue right on top of the edge technique! Thanks.
He fiberglass back in the piece he cut from the bottom, he didn't use wood on the box.. he used the wood to create a false floor so trunk items cannot hit the sub.
Whoa, great video! . What do you think a shop should charge to build a custom box like you so expertly showed here? How much does it cost for the parts and product needed to build the box, and how long would u say is the total time it took you to build it. Its hard to tell as its on RU-vid and all the video editing. I was thinking about doing this myself, im capable, but lack the garage and tools, im not very handy but am a fast learner. U r a pro, can a novice do it yourself, or is it too difficult? What do you think? Thanks! Jeff
@@terryburton971labor cost is really where price comes in most times. This is a lot of work. Granted if it's something your doing for yourself, and it's cheap and effective that's fantastic and I'll put that effort in. But if you asked me to put that same effort and care into the same work on someone else's car. It'd cost a lot more since I've got no interest. I imagine it's the same here. Not a business. Just an enthusiast
@jakethesnake4040 oh yeah I understand I did a rear deck in a car mounted a 8" kicker L7 square and 2 6x9s.... i did two 6x9s in the front doors... wrapped both ( 1st time doing that I need practice lol) fiberglassing is easy I wet the surface... lay on the mat... I don't sand it yet mix up some rondo (God send love this stuff cause its easy to get smooth) sand it done
no milkshake again bro,one word,rigid.....your very talented for sure i just wonder why you dont make it more rigid with milkshakes inside your door pods and this enclosure, besides that its great work, when are you going to run a active set up and really start having some fun bro ? i love your speedy time lapsed video's though, very cool.oh yea i love the way you spray paint your walls lol
Two different things.. you could have a ported fiberglass box if desired.. maybe you meant wood vs fiberglass, and that would depend on the thickness of the fiberglass. Unless your a robot I don't know if you could tell the difference with a well built diberglass box
I'm starting to notice all these DIY guys have great woodworking skills. But when it comes to installing hardware it's a crap. Wires ,drivers, so on. I guess it has to be crap so kids can afford it. Yes!
@@soundcraft6912 everyone I know who’s lost a finger, and I know several, have all had many years machining/woodworking experience, but it seems nobody can tell you anything ... good luck. 👍
