You should provide an update when the truck hits the dyno to show what effect all the extra machining had for the engine.
@demisama3038
@demisama3038 11 месяцев назад
Same although I assume not much would be gained till top end is hit and most the benefits would be from the upgraded valves and reliability from proper size and none damaged valves. Wish I had the tools and or someone in the area who could touch up my engine but the 6g75 isn't really a well supported engine.

I wish the machine shop I've used in the past would let me shadow them while they machine my block and heads... I would likely get in their way and annoy them when they want to just work... but would be awesome to see the work done. Thank you for filming and putting your content up! I can't get enough of this!!! I've always "known" what they do at the machine shops with my heads and blocks, but could not understand how they get a lot of those items done... Now I know how! You do amazing work and turns out looking GREAT! Lots of math and experience goes into this work. I've worked in construction and other mechanic work my entire life and I know there are those things where when trying to tell someone how tight or how to do something, you say, just feel for it to be right... There has got to be some of those scenarios with your setup where you get it lined up and ready and you just know how far the grinder "wants" to go and you really can't explain it, but just feel and know it from experience.

Most Machine shops today want Quantity instead of quality, You have chosen Quality. Great Job.

Dont knock those 1200lb beetles. They dont take much power to make them pretty quick as well as the weight distribution really helps with traction when the powertrain is basically right over the drive wheels, pretty much the perfect drag car setup really.

Just wanted to add some Apples to Oranges discussion to the mix. I've done a lot of seat profile testing on the 7.3 IDI, including the BSS cutters you used, and they weren't effective at all (On the flow bench) The IDI has a completely different intake port and larger valve, I assume that's the reason for the difference. I'm still working on the exhaust side of things. Also, the pocket clearancing didn't make any difference... Again, just so I don't get yelled at, I'm talking about the IDI, not the power stroke here. These mods might very well make a difference on the PSD (I haven't tested them) I just didn't want people to assume they will on an IDI.

30 deg seat angle is favorable to low lift flow while 45,50,55 for your mid to high to the xtreames of pro stock. Every single port design will favor completely different seat angle. 5 angle isn't the end all be all and especially when you consider stock seat angles of every 15 deg. Every detail matters and changes things. Port design, port angle to the valve, port angle to the cylinder, valve angle to the cylinder, 2v,3v,4v,5v,valve head dia/bore, lift, lift/dia valve, curtain area, tumble, swirl, local port velocities, air velocities around the valve, port shape as in circular being most efficient, oval next and square or rectangular least, the circle having less surface area thus less frictional losses. Thats just some of it.
@RacinNdrummin
@RacinNdrummin 11 месяцев назад
@@_FJB_ the biggest gains I've seen so far on an IDI head (again apples to oranges), on the intake, even more than doing any porting whatsoever, is widening the seat to .280" at 30*. This bumps overall flow 7-15cfm across the board from .100-.500. I havent gotten too deep into the exhaust side yet, but intend to do some exploring there. Every head is different, and IH did a pretty good job in stock form with the 6.9/7.3 IDI.
