ICYW: Fan/Radiator support in the Y40 includes up to 2x 120mm/140mm along the side, 3x 120mm up top, 1x 120mm at the rear, and 1x 120mm/140mm in the basement. Maximum CPU cooler height is 183mm according to their product page, which ties into what we mentioned in the video about potential clearance issues. And I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but the included riser cable is PCIe 4.0 👍
@@kennethpereyda5707 I don't think that's true, I only have a 240mm AIO in my case, but I saw another video that said there was plenty of room, and eyeballing it in mine it looks like there's plenty of room. This case definitely is more geared towards an AIO vs a large air cooler.
I used the white version of this case to build a system for my friends son. He originally wanted the Lian Li 215 but stock won't show up until mid-March. We kept the system to a mid-range system due to costs. I put a RX6600XT in it which games really well. The platform used was a 12600k/Z690 wifi with 32 gb's Corsiar memory. Storage was 500gb M.2 and 2tb Crucial ssd. For power I used a 750w EVGA psu. I donated a rgb 6 fan kit to make the teen smile. The Hyte Y40 is a great case to work with and the system looked beautiful.
Man, I love just looking at computers, so satisfying to see them come together. Beautiful case that looks great when completed. Your video on the back and white themed H510 Flow build is one of my faves in this regard
Seeing the single front panel connector brought me tears of joy I built my new pc last night, which is a 5000D and was STRUGGLING with the front panel connectors because of how big my hands are. Hopefully with my next build in a few years the cable you showed in the video is the industry standard :)
Felt the same joy when I built in my Y60. I hate front panel connectors with a passion because of my sausage fingers lol. I don't understand why they don't have unified connectors more.
The Elgato 4K60 Pro PCIe card comes with its low profile 8 cm bracket included. In fact, most expansion cards today other than GPUs are low profile with both brackets included. The design of the Hyte Y40 & Y60 with low profile brackets to make room for 3 or 4 vertical expansion slots for modern GPUs is a genius idea.
Man this build looks so good with it's stealth black theme. Greg is living the dream. How I wish I'd be like this someday, doing what I love for content pc building and whatnot.
when I see your videos I can't wait to be able to see them you learn so much, your nice, and you just seem like and are just a real person doing what you do, Thanx
just got this case will be moving from the TT Snow 100 to this one ..also got the black as i have done white and thanks for a great vid to watch as i start my HYTE y40 build
I had kida similar build... First I had regular cooler for the CPU but when gaming temps went up to 80-100. I switched to AIO aio asus rog ryujin ii 360 and temps now ranging between 36-47.
Literally just said how you felt building in the case…that is beyond all levels of people in reviewing this case (As of the last couple of months)…you have won the day on the internet for me….those snags with the cables being Nero Uno 👌🏻💪🏻
I just finished building in the white version of the Y40 and really enjoyed it. I used the z790 Proart from ASUS and had the same issue as you with the USB cable that partially blocks the installation of 140 fans on the side. I didn‘t feel comfortable with the header being pushed mechanically stressed by the fan install, so I grabbed a 90 degree adapter off Amazon and it solved the issue! I love the look of the case and can recommend Artic 120 and 140 ARGBs for those who want a front facing light accent. 😊 They look amazing on the side when set to intake - as they need to be…lol
This is what I'm talking bout. Not all pc gamers want to use aio's, and we need air cooler clearances. I get so tired of the elitists not even giving us information because we use "not aesthetic" cooling methods. Thank you!
I'm so glad i found your channel. I always learn something new. I especially like learning how you troubleshoot systems. I'm watching all your vids and liking them all! Subscribed!
Thanks for an awesomesauce video Greg! Hyte is knocking it out with these cases. I say if you build another system, use 3 radiators see how cold it can really get.
I really love my y40, the only thing that needs to be considered is that a thick aio radiator+fans at the top (arctic liquid freezer, or deepcool ls for example), blocks the fan at the back. I had to readjust the whole backside because of the tightness.
i just got the case. reminds me a lot of my lian li 011 d for my other builds with the nice fish tank design. great for displaying your build and easy to install in. i would compare this more to the 011d air mini since it's smaller.
Great video I'm about to make my first build with a 4070 and I think this case would look great in it and I was having a hard time figuring witch case I liked best and this video helped for sure!
Overall I like the case but I wish it didn't have the front glass panel. If they had an option for a mesh front panel and the ability to mount a couple fans I would get one of these cases in a heartbeat.
I had the red version of this case, had to return it to MicroCenter due to the fact that I felt that it was just too much plastic all around, ended up with a Lian Li O11 Dynamic and way too much difference. I feel the selling point of this case is the fact that you get a GPU riser 4.0 included with the cost.
I like the Y40 better than the Y60. I love the original's aesthetic but I'm not a fan of the dual chamber trend. It's amazing how they took the aesthetic of Y60 and translated it to a more traditional chassis.
I ended up with a similar issue with my USB 3 cable on the motherboard. I solved that with a 90 degree adapter, I just didn't like the stress on the cable.
Like the build, but it is a bit chunky. I personally would have gone with a smaller gpu that didn't cover the fans on the side. If your looking into aio's again. I suggest a Deep Cool Infinite series LT520. It may not be all black but is a really nice aio over all.
If only they offered a vented side panel that card would get all the cool air it needs. I honestly think that is where we are heading, first the industry "re discovered" vented front panels, and now it will "discover" a vent where the video card fans need cool air is a good idea. Fads are so silly. (And I know Hyte is engineering around the desire to have your PC be a display case for your graphics card, and trying to cool a fishtank. Mad props to their engineering team)
It's got plenty of airflow as is. If you want to squeeze out the few extra delta C, build on an open air test bench or buy something like the Fractal North.
My HD60 Pro that's not 4K from Elgato definitely included a low profile version of the backplate, so I'd be shocked if your 4K60 Pro didn't come with one. Maybe Elgato would send you another?
please have a vid just on cable managing hell even where ur plugging in all the connectors from the power supply, might be boring to most but not all :)
LOVE the stealth look and the fact you went air cooled....refreshing change from the usual “clown towers” everybody else is building....plus you’ll never have to worry about the usual problems associated with an AIO..👍👍
Very nice case, but... Where do I mount my DVD/CD drive? My computer is my entertainment centre. Yes, I game on it but it is also my player for my shelves full of CDs as I have a decent speaker system attached. I also like to watch my favourite DVD films, casting to my TV via VideoLan and a Chromecast. Not to mention revisiting some of my favourite games using the installation CDs that are ranked in their cases on another shelf... So many cases just don't have the facility to mount a 5.25" drive. Grrrr!
I actually really liked how this ended up except for the reverse fans, lol. I believe you didn't recognize the issue because you said your were removing the stickers off so it would not ruin the aestethics of the theme.. but you unfortunately removed them from the exhaust side lol. So, it was kind it was a kind of camoflague through the build. I actually wanted to try a build in this case but what was stopping me was the cpu I have is a 13700k and the room I rent is not the most cool and lack any kind of natural airflow(half lowered basement studio, means no openable windows.... yay for ground level) I was worried about the heat of the case and cpu so I went with a 360mm aio from Artic. I am planning on putting it together this weekend so wish me luck that everything works alongsid my rtx4080
its a nice case but i hate cases that have the rear fan flush with the motherboard , so you buy a nice motherboard with cool leds like my rog one, then have to stick a fan in front covering it all up
Ok the front panel ports why case makers don't make these either moveable or in the middle so you have easy access weather case is on the floor or desk
So my rtx 2060 "died" today... The fan to the left started making scratching Noice and after a while it completely stopped working. Been using the same card for awhile with a 500w psu, decided to upgrade last week to a i5 13400f with a 650w psu. Is it possible that the heat of the cards full potential with the 650w psu cooked the fan? If so: where can i buy a replacement fan? (The gpu is an asus dual evo rtx 2060)
With some of the hot air from the GPU blowing directly into the CPU cooler would it benefit from having a second fan in the push-pull and then out of the case? the entire bottom of the CPU cooler is being fed with hot air from the GPU correct (obviously when under load)? So would a second fan help remove some of the hot air?
I personally think an AIO makes more sense in this case, that way you can exhaust the heat out of the top and don't have to worry about your GPU heating up the CPU.
Man, that build looks amazing...only thing I'm curious about is, why are all your fans set to exhaust? wouldn't it bbe better with a possitive, or neutral pressure?
I was thinking about getting this for my PC. i9-10900k with a XFX Merc310 7900xtx but seeing how close the GPU will be to the glass..... I think not....
@@GregSalazar Rear intake inhales dust? Is that because the rear panel is usually against a wall? Btw I accidentally installed my Light Wings backward in this case too! The eye just wants those RGB rings to face forward and they’re kinda wasted set to intake on the side panel IMHO. I swapped them out for Chromax 140s and chilled with the RGB overall…😂
How difficult is it to find half height cards to use in the other slots behind the GPU? Seems like an issue for WiFi cards, capture cards and the like.
I bought this case too. I’m curious how you got the cable management in the basement. It looked like it had channels for routing down there or did you bundle them and zip tie together (that’s what it looks like to me).
I'll say it again, we need to embrace Parallel IO*. It is getting quite ridiculous and PIO motherboarda are a thing. I should know I have a China market Gigabyte branded one and a couple TaoBao ones. *PIO is where the video card plugs into the side of the motherboard, it can be an "ITX" or a 2 slot "MicroATX" size motherboard but the x16 slot is above and the card faces out just as with this case. The card is plugged in with no Risers or brackets or anything, and space is very much saved. Extra cards can just plug in normally with no card in the way at all. The video cards can be 4 or 5 slot for all you care, they are back in the case deeper and won't starve for airflow. It would not be difficult to make the case fit both regular and PIO boards. Just 2 or 3 more stand off locations and a vertical bracket to mobo IO adapter (the motherboard would move down some slots and need an expansion slot to mobo IO adapter). This could easily be done with 2 swappable back plates if desired.
