Yeah Matty, so happy your cabin was under way before the snow hit and all seems to work out for you. Great little cabin. You didn't mention fishing ? Just wondering if you were still getting fish in your net? So looking forward to the next video. This is the only REAL bushcraft channel on RU-vid. Grateful Blessings
yes I was still fishing at this point, I did pull the net for a week though since I had such a stock pile and to free up more time for building. Ended up running the net on the open lake since the cove froze up. its hard to get it all into this little series, plan on sharing a full length version of this trip showing much more in depth look.
Love you too ,I'm so glad I found your channel. Been a woodsman in northern Minnesota all my long life. Love your ambition and know-how. Curt at log camp.
I was so happy to wake this day and find your mug here to watch again. Impressed with how much you can do in a day. And your so wise with your decisions when to stop. Everything you are doing is cool. Love it man. And I am not alone...at this moment more than 25% who have watched have liked..... That is not the norm man... Crack on.
Matty you gotta speak man makes the videos hearing your explanations and the jokes are great, nice to get a great informational video to watch and get a chuckle at the same time and keep up the great work hope you stay safe and healthy and successful out there sir 🇨🇦💪
@@skoteoutdoors You're welcome man thanks for the reply! @@skoteoutdoors if you’re ever around calgary, come by and have some prairie chicken. Little less flavour than those grouse, but more meat. I got a fox problem I could use your help with too!
I far as I know, I have watched every video you have made to date. I have enjoyed each one for what it represented at the time you made them. One element is consistent throughout each video, and that is your resilience. Raw yet educational, humorous and entertaining, yet strangely profound as you logically work out the details, and lastly your indomitable spirit keeps me looking forward to the next video, which is your next adventure. Thank you so much for the effort you put into your RU-vid channel.
Brand new watcher here..and all I can type is...you're living the pure way man. I highly respect your souls intent on this little dream cabin in those perfect beautiful elements.. Thanks so much for sharing bro🤙
Was just watching and wondering how you deal with the just nature sounds ….. I’m happy to hear you chat about the day and how you are feeling….. always some humorous comments….. look forward to next week
during the summer and fall months hearing just nature sounds is actually very nice and it seems like my hearing tunes in more to the point where a small shift in the brush was very noticeable. in the deep winter however, once everything freezes up solid and all the critters hide away it becomes so quiet that it seems loud. no birds or anything rustling, sound of your own footsteps in the snow can almost be overwhelming after a long period in the bush alone.
That was interesting to watch! Now I have some catching up to do to see what your up to over here😆 Keep on keeping on✌ Stop in for a visit some time👍 Marc
At least one if the three of ya, is still out there bush whack in’ it. Lolz it was last year , I know. Glad Adam didn’t get et by the bear. Lovin these episodes! Ya need more moss in your house!
Hey man ! great stuff as always ! the cabin is starting to take shape, it's going to be perfect ! just wondering why you left the bark on the logs? any reason or just didn't want to waste energy peeling them? Looking forward to the next video, Cheers !
exactly, left the bark on purely to save energy. to peel all those logs with a draw knife little lone an axe, would create so much extra labour. It hurt me a little leaving the bark on as I no what that's gonna do for the life of the cabin, plus dry bark falling inside for years to come.
No speaking? That is crazy talk! I enjoy the talking, how would you express your sense of humour for heavens sake? hahahaha! Enjoying this series very much, thanks for sharing and keep up the chit chat! :) :)
That is going to be an amazing cabin. Just wondering why, with all the trees about, why you haven't made your work easier by making a travois to haul the moss, your firewood logs, etc. Also a mallot instead of possibly breaking your ax handle driving those stakes? Such beautiful country there. Be safe.
speed and timing was the issue, I traded smart efficient work for fast hard work. Figure once I got started on making the systems better that it would be easy to burn up a lot of extra time getting carried away
Really appreciate your hard work and explanations. I’m curious why you wouldn’t cut your door way in as you go and perhaps a window hole. Perhaps there is a proper reason for it, I wouldn’t know?
if you cut the door as the walls go up then it would be much harder to maintain the walls to be straight and true. this is pretty standard way of doing it in my experience
Hi Matty. You mentioned how this was different than the Yukon. How so? I’m just assuming it’s because you’re more separate from civilization and the supports you have access to. Also, can you tell me what you did with your dog from your time in the Yukon? Thanks.
You are an insanely hard worker, but your cabin will last longer if you strip off the bark, and put the logs on a foundation of stone! I'm guessing this isn't your last build anyway! Good luck out there!
yes your totally right, it was very hard for me to build this with the bark on as I understand what that means for longevity of the cabin. The only reason I didn't peel the logs is time and energy. this was a survival cabin which meant just getting it up. she's not built for a lifetime cabin, it is on a foundation of crushed stone though. shows it in earlier video.
Just found your page today and subscribed, really digging your content! That cabin is looking so nice, lots of hard work going into that build, looking forward to seeing it finished. Gonna be checking out the rest of your videos, keep up the great work! Shaun. Northern Wisconsin🌲
all of my drinking water came straight out of the lake. I didn't boil any water for drinking what so ever and didn't get sick or stomach issues. the water was very clean.
My hat's off to you bud. That's hard grueling work! I'm a builder myself and I'm not so sure I'd take that job on with minimal tools! I just want to send you a chainsaw 🤣 so whats your plan for the cabin? You staying there full time or just for a little while? Anyways much love from the woods of Maine!
it was a lot of labour that is for damn sure. having a chain saw for the harvesting of logs would be great, but I really enjoyed using hand tools for the building part. plan is too stay at the cabin until freeze up and hunters from Natuashish begin to show up on snowmobile and give me a ride back out to town.
