this was a lotus 23b my brother and i put together as you can see the chassi and body had to be extensively modified. the engine is a brand new aluminium block and head lotus twin cam with all steel internals.
Awesome job. Love the footwell mod, I sat in one the same and couldn't drive it, my feet wouldn't fit. These cars were built around a midget. Don't ya wish that steering shaft was gone too, my right foot pushed both accelerator and brake at the same time, couldn't move it sideways because of the steering. Truly impressive job you've done.
Well, you've got to imagine these cars were designed around a 5 ft 7 inch 140 pound man as a driver. Not a midget or a horse jockey, but an average sized Brit of the time. Corvettes were designed for the 6 foot, 200 lbs. American body.
That's some slick work, you always need to do work on the fly with kits. I'm surprised a modern kit hadn't switched to a fully adjustable rod end suspension. The brits always did thing on the cheap.
@@troyumlauf3589 I've seen a number of Aussi and Kiwi kits and they all usually need lots of work. It's like they designed them on CAD/CAM and never built one, or never made changes to the program/parts after they did build one.
You've been a bit evasive about which kit you sourced for this build. Could you tell us the supplier's name? What trans axle did you use to synchros in the trans? Audi, Subaru? If a production car trans, where did you source the gear change adapter? This is a great looking build. The 23 is one of my all time favorite cars.
Lovely work….and end result. Presumably the chassis modifications were required because you chose to use a different transmission than that which the kit manufacturer envisaged?
