Even more pallet tower walls for the tiny house on our off grid mountain! Complete step by step time lapse and tutorial video of how to build a house out of used pallet wood.
It's taking so long to build, that we have decided to show you all a Full Length, rough edited video of the entire process building the first floor of our tiny house out of pallet wood. This is a simple assembly of used pallet wood, however it is not as easy as it looks! Not only is it cheap and sustainable, but very doable with the right tools and know-how.
We are building a house out of pallets on our off grid mountain! We are not doing this to be trendy or cool, but to save money and build our home on a budget. It will start as a one room, 2 floor house that will look like a Pallet Tower and we will continue to add on more rooms later on.

really enjoying the series, its very inspirational! One thing, maybe you could add some chill vibe music during the timelapse sequences, the silence is jarring LOL Great Job on the project and the video though! Thanks

Oh man! If only I still had one of my first videos! It was back when I was trying to figure out how you edit videos, and I did that by making my own music and overlaying that on a video of me making a fish hook lol - Your comment made me remember that. But yes I will see what all free music is available. I bet even the sounds of the forest would be better than nothing. I'll pass that along to Celia.

Don't, music makes it cringe.

Watching this video and the previous has been incredibly inspiring, we're gonna do a "shed" expansion in a similar fashion in the next few days. I've been a little worried because honestly we'll be doing it out of necessity as well, so the worry really comes from knowing It's really our only affordable option. In the past hour watching P1 and Part 2 of this series I've gone from worry to excitement, can't wait to see more. Thanks for putting this one up

That's exactly why we are here! It's all a matter of perspective and actually getting out there and doing it.

Perty dang amazing. I realize you are off grid, but one tool I think that would have been awful handy for ya is a palm nailer and air compressor.
@SteepintheWoods
@SteepintheWoods 6 месяцев назад
You 'NAILED' it!! Haha I honestly didn't think about the air compressor.. I had looked up battery powered Palm nailers but ran off once I saw the price. But yes! You are 100% correct every single one of my knuckles is bloody from trying to hammer inside of these pallets LOL

Everyone needs to understand that all pallets are made out of #3 lumber. So everyone knows some pt like me worked on lumber mills and I did some grading.

how about drilling a 1/2 hole and using wooden dowels and glue to join the oak pallets?
@MrGodforPresident

so I learned from carpenters nails should be used because they will give flex, as the house shifts screws break
@SteepintheWoods
@SteepintheWoods 6 месяцев назад
That is correct. I still prefer screws, I think if you use enough of them your bord will break before the screws will.. But because we're unable to protect our structure from the changes in humidity I have predominantly used nails on this structure.

Why have you used short pieces of wood ( as a laminated strut for the wall pallets ) instead of, like you did with the floor, ( 12 feet long ) use longer pieces ( 8 feet ?) that will anchor all the wall pallets together ? Too expensive? Sorry I should have put this up as a separate comment not in the reply section.

Have you done a video outlining your actual plan for this project. I personally fail to get the actual point of this tower or what it is going to accomplish.

Wow I knew you helped Sam on his trailer before he moved to the Greeneville area.... family don't always help each other. Your place reminded me of our home place in West Virginia only ours was down hill going to the place. We had 29 acres , our own water source, plenty of woods and just a few acres of good farming land, but had our own coal mines for heat it was a great way of life.
