Building my Civic using only Junkyard parts! - EP. 2 

A tip for electrical mods. Since your trunk taillights also light up with the brakes, you could have had a shorter wire run by tapping into those. Next, since there are other Civics at your yard, you could have gotten donor wiring from the yard civic, and made a T-harness so that the wing is plug and play. Cut the plug and some wire off a taillight in the yard, and the matching plug and some wiring from the trunk in the same vehicle. Solder those two donated pieces together, with the spoiler wiring soldered into that. Then you don't have to cut up or modify the car harness.

My spoiler method for my 99 accord...taped craft paper to trunk. Traced pedestal on the craft paper that's taped to the trunk. I took another bit of craft paper and traced the pedestal, cur out bolt hole, cut out trace of pedestal. Lined the second template the the outline taped to trunk, marked the hole, measured it and the spoiler. Drilled the holes. Different ways of doing it, but not the marker rout. ❤😊

8:30 Dope you got the third brake light working! Instead of soldering and cutting the stock wiring I like to De pin the connector and press the wires in with the OEM ones so there are so extra cuts made. It has worked great over many years. Just a fun fact you may or may not decide to do in the future! Keep up the build, that wing surprisingly looks really good!

That Acura spoiler looks beyond great on that Civic. I've used spoilers from junkyard '99 Pontiac Grand Am GT's twice XD. We put one on a '00 Civic EX coupe and then we put one on our '95 Civic EX coupe. The shape looks decent on the '96-'00 but really nails it on the '92-95 body style. Gives a bit of a reptile look to it. Sometime this next year we will be doing a video on installing a pair of '87 Toyota MR2 mud flaps on the '95. So far it's really meshing together with the spoiler to create a unique look. After painting all one color it'll look like a kit.

Hit the yards look for the same spoiler on a car that has the rubber seals/gaskets . the seals would have helped out lining up where you needed to drill

You've never seen scotchloks used on the wiring of a car before? That's kinda surprising! The non-grease-filled ones like that do not last well in damp conditions, and they're only really good for low-amperage circuits, like LED lights. (even though some people hack them in everywhere!) Huh, odd there wasn't any rubber sheet to go between the spoiler and the trunk-lid, paint suffers a bit. The rubber washers are a good temporary solution, but a thin rubber sheet cut to match the base of the spoiler would seal it against water and eliminate the obvious gap issue. Also, like speedy said, this video isn't in the playlist yet.

that is not how you use masking tape and a marker. put masking tape on the trunk, place the spoiler, draw an outline of the bottom of the spoiler, then put masking tape on the spoiler itself, mark the holes, peel the tape, place the marked tape on the right hand side of the spoiler on the left hand side of the trunk and vice versa. I did it one go on my IS200.

love the videos man keep them up! just subbed like the content, have a tip for you for next time, when tapping into those wires for a cleaner install you couldve tapped into the brake lights thats on the trunk lid and wired it into the loom that runs along the trunk lid arms. But no worries i really enjoyed the vid!

I feel like you were a bit rushed when installing this. Spoiler looks good and works really well but when you go into details, you could have done a thing or two differently, like routing the wire inside the existing loom. End result still looks good though :) Good luck with the build, looks fun!

I have a 04 tsx its stupid clean old lady traded it in one owner and she dumped mad money in it. I am jealous of that wing. All I need is a new cat and a drivers side visor otherwise its mint beater I almost feel bad. My baby is a 2024 Wrx TR that I rather keep the miles low on.
