The champion sof russ build I'm going to try for my local club is bjorn, ragnar, harald deathwolf, wgbl on Thunderwolf with black death thunderhammer storm shield, ulrik 10 wolf guard power armour 5 wolf guard power armour (both with storm shields) 6 thunderwolves with storm shields, 10 wulfen with hammers and shields, 5 infiltrators 5 scouts 5 assault intercessors with jump packs 2 pred destructors 1 pred anniolator 1 razor back and 1 rhino (aiming to have the characters do the heavy lifting to try and trigger the sagas instead of have the units kill everything (I hope it plays well enough)
I'm leaning towards starting with 6+FNP to maximize the models you have left on the board to make the most of the others when you activate them. Black Death on a Wolf lord with a thunder hammer seems like the best place for that enhancement to get beast slayer. A Judie with some assault intercessors charging a character on an objective helps with the Judie getting dev wounds on said character and only costs 145 points to unlock warrior born. Overall I think running heaps of characters is a bit of a trap in that not only do we open ourselves up to assassinate but we also take away points that can be spent on other units to score secondaries
I think you can build a list to take advantage of any of the Saga to begin and can also change your choice based on opponent. I like the versatility and don't think we should ever have 1 Saga we choose 100% of the time.
So new to the pack but here’s what I’m thinking. Start in saga of the bear and set up a charge with Ragnar and some assault intercessors in an impulsor to try and activate majesty by like turn 3 using murderfang to remove some obstacles in the way or to play roadblock Then I’m thinking ulfric and a squad of wolf guard inside of a storm fang to chase beast slayer Then a squad of bladeguard in a land raider variation of some kind supported by some kind of heavy artillery with captain with frost weapon and a lieutenant leading the full six to chase warrior born
I've had questions about this. Do the sagas stack? So if I start with warrior can I then add on beastslayer? If not, if I start with warrior, achieve beastlayer, can I go back to warrior even though I technically haven't unlocked it?
Is it possible to put a BL on TH with a wolf lord on TH and also Logan Grimnar on storm rider to lead everyone in a Thunderwolf Calvary unit? I’m trying to build a list but I wasn’t sure I could do that. And what are the benefits if possible. Thanks for all your videos. I’ve learned a lot about space wolves from you.
You can put a Battle Leader on Thunderwolf in a Squad with a Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf or Logan on Stormrider. You can't Put Logan and a Wolf Lord in the same unit if that is what you were asking.
At first I also was thinkin better to start with sustained for the advance&charge, however when start building lists I noticed that if you start with lethals you have wulfen that can take down any target and overall you need less charachters to make the list function, giving you more units and being less open to assassination. From experience with Gladius, advance&charge is usually needed just for one unit along the whole game, usually turn 3 or 4, while clever positioning serves to the rest of the army. Wulfen with lethals and +1 to wound are scaaaary.
The nice thing is depending in list or opponent there is the chance to choose the best option for a particular matchup. Iove the flexibility and options
