I've bought three modules so far, cause they're were pretty cheap on ebay: A110, A106-5 and a uClouds. Altogether under 300 Euro. Okay, no case so far... but is there a still a way out of the rabbithole for me? ;)
A year has passed since I got into (virtual) modular synthesis, and I finally got my first eurorack setup :D I got a neutron (im using it in its own case), intelijell mult buff and doepfer a143-2 & a135-2. Im having so much fun, thanks 💙💜
It's really great that you can get a feel for this kind of music through the software without having to go to the expense. Such a Eurorack doesn't seem to be very cheap. But it's certainly a very different feeling to have something in front of you that you can touch than just looking at a screen. Someday I'll get one of those things, too. It was also an exciting feeling for me to watch you build it up. Really nice to see how the empty parts of the case close with beautiful modules :)
I’ve got a 12u 126 case that’s nearly full. I’m going to get a second, smaller, mixer case, probably a 6u rack brute or something similar to put mixers and fx in.
@@stickyfingazz2103 Yeah, the Neutron is still in, as I mentioned, I want this to be portable, but I did send back the mixer. As much as it sounded amazing, it was taking too much space, especially when adding also the Expander, and this just didn't make any sense...
Oh yes, I'm totally excited! And it was great at Superbooth, meeting a lot of interesting people, and having the chance to play with all sorts of toys...

@@OmriCohen-Music you are a few modules short currently to make something video worthy all in good time man. Trust me i know how expensive eurorack gets! My best advice would be get a beat step pro. I know it's technically not eurorack but its definitely the best bang for buck addition to any system for cv control. Also thank you for making videos mate, you actually contributed to me getting into modular and synths.
Fun video Omri. Interesting way to lay the modules out although nothings set in stone. I built my own case last year out of wood. It’s very heavy but I like it anyway. Enjoy the hardware. It took me a long time to get to a point where I had enough stuff to make meaningful music but I’m there now. Good stuff 👍👍

Agree with Willy Nebula. Probably going to be taking the Neutron back out and filling with other modules. Make sure you check out Ornament and Crime and Intellijel's Planar2. Now, go have fun so you can come back and we can have fun listening to what you have come up with.
I have two Elektrons to sample and sequence over CV and MIDI so that saves me time and cash. Probably get a case/power, wave shaper VCO, utilities, mixer, quad VCA and quad envelope as first few modules. Trying to keep it under 2k for the first setup.
So jealous Omri, nice rig. I have been looking at the Morphagene for some time but until such a time as funds etc I will just have to wait. Looking forward to what you produce with this setup and VCV Rack v1 when it is released.
Yeah, exactly, the midilar is there. I would like to add also the hexpander at one point so maybe putting the neutron back in its case is not such a bad idea
Do you find the positioning of the bus board frustrating? Having it so low and not centered seems it would be a hassle to swap modules in and out. Thoughts?

How could a BeagleBoneBlack board with a 7"-Touchscreen be integrated as a computer in a portable Eurorack (mounting, power supply, USB I/O)? ... so as to use together with VCV-rack running on this BBB

@@OmriCohen-Music Thx for answering so quickly. I am very tempted to dive into modular (which could possibly turn out to be yet another 'victim' down the rabbit hole). VCV Rack is amazing but i miss the physical connection you make (pun?) with the devices. The Neutron seems a very solid start, unfortunately it has no sequencer. Do you have a recommendation for a sequencer similar to how Neutron is build (eg. It can work on it's own but can also be integrated into a modular case/setup). Much obliged. (Edit) Arturia's Beatstep Pro?
@@tapaaz2012 The Neutron is a great synth to start with, yes. You can also use it further down the road with Eurorack. I used it with the BSP and it worked great. Now I use the KSP mostly.

Hi! Well, there are a few interesting 1U modules, yes. I still have the Quadratt, and the buffered multiple. Both I can recommend. There are also interesting modules from Ritual Electronics. And, there are new ones from Mosaic.
Well, for now, I've added some Midilar modules for controlling VCV (hopefully I will make a video about them soon), and I was thinking of getting the Hexpender also so I can have individual outputs. I really want the new sound repeater from Make Noise, and I guess that the new Instruo granular module would not hurt either :) The "problem" is, I will probably need another case soon, or I should take out the Neutron...

Yeah, there are many ways to go in. I recommend starting a modular grid rack so you can see what you want, how much space you'll need, and the power consumption also.
Yeah, it's great for portability, but it does take a lot of power and space... although when you think about it, it's like having many modules that will still take a lot of space and power.
I'm so jealous of this, what a fantastic step to be taking from virtual to physical. Good for you, man. I'm scared to make the transition; I think I'll end up bankrupting myself.
Well, no, they're not included, but they are very helpful. I really like the Mults and the Attenuverters. There's also a Midi to CV module and an Audio module so it takes less space for the 3U modules.
Omri Cohen Yeah, that’s the part where I was wondering. Cause I understand that the Intellijel already comes with in/out and midi inputs in the back, right ? Also, looks so slick btw, I am definitely looking into it.
@@HousePlant_Ambient Yeah, there's audio and midi in the back so it's very convenient. There are also 1U modules not from Intellijel btw that can be very useful, just make sure they fit the Intellijel format because there's also the Make Noise format which is a bit different.

Wouldn't trust the red stripe so much; you should also check if the connectors are correctly attached. Hey Walter, thanks! Yeah, I don't trust the red stripe. That's why I say so often to check the manual for what it says about the position of the negative 12. And this video was very helpful 🙂
@@OmriCohen-Music When turning on a rack for the first time, it is advisable to have a visual on the three led indicators on the PSU, they will tell you if it is all connected properly. Also it is advisable to check power in between placing modules, you do not want to turn a rack on finding out it is not working and not knowing which module is malfunctioning.
