You should be proud. Very cool, labor-intensive hobby. I did big boilers for 40 years, our brick was more like, well, brick. Love the kit forge! Pretty sweet rig, for the love of God, please carry on!

If you’re melting it you probably left it in too long, but yea. It’s for heating metal for blacksmithing.
