Building my own high school (Part 2)

Honestly, putting computers and chess tables in the library wouldn’t look out if place (as long as they fit, haha). Loving this build!

It would be fun to see an art room, music room and maybe even a wood shop on the second floor! Super awesome build James!

I think a fun feature to add to the upstairs would be to make club rooms with get together! They could have the "club members only" door, and it'd be a cool hang out for students without having random sims flock there if you add computers or games

i love how james, deli and kayla built their own highschools using very diff aesthetics the way my jaw dropped with james’ build though 😭 the library and hallway glass roof was my favorite part 😭

Put some instruments in the auditoriam/asssembly hall room!!! So musical sims and "study music" :)

Just a note, it looks like you used the desk that is tagged as “the principal’s desk” in the nurse’s office - so the principal may end up hanging out in the nurse’s office during gameplay.

I think a art room would be cool or a woodworkshop, just so the teens can go there after school or on the weekends to build skills. Also putting a microphone or music instruments in the auditorium might be nice.

Second floor could be the club activities! The chess and computer room. Maybe add some study cubbies. I also miss the art room, could add that and a music room up there too

In the "Faux Auditorium" The Uni debate item would have been cool

When you play test and see where sims naturally travel off path, I think that's kinda normal for high school. Maybe add some terrain paint to show where kids regularly walk through the grass?

I love the idea of using the high school as a skill building lot, with a place to practice painting, music, handiness, fitness etc, instead of having to go to many different lots to practice

I still think it should be named Bigwallet High since they have so much money 😆 and Reginald gets bullied and is socially awkward because the other students think he’s rich when he got kicked out with no money…

Most High Schools and completive pools in in my area have 1/4 Olympic length meaning 25meaters so your pool is right on size. Also smaller and higher windows in her pool mirroring the "faux gym" to make them look cohesive and be truer to an indoor pool, all those big windows will turn the room into an oven. Trust me Former Lifeguard. the biggest risk we had at swim meets was heat stroke.

Can’t wait for you to have the rest of the packs. You can add a chemistry lab with the things from get to work, maybe a biology lab with frogs and aliens in jars and a skeleton, random rooms like this that are always in schools. Also the nurse’s room can be much more detailed with get to work and cats and dogs stuff.

Near the carpark you could add some fence pieces and 'move object' bikes next to them to create a bike racks

Honestly instead of a huge computer lab, I would just put a few computers or laptops in the library. A lot of schools don’t have a designated computer lab anymore anyway (because most American schools are 1:1 with technology).

My pack just downloaded. I placed the school and it looks great! I added basketball goals in the gym and they fit perfectly. I switched the podium in the auditorium for the debate podium. I love it! Thanks James!

Talking about Sims walking for an eternity just brings me back to my high school days where you quite literally had to run from one end of the school to the other to make it to class in time. Can't stop at a locker, there's not enough time! XD Ah, such not-fun times!

A chess table in the library might be good? And maybe some easels in the garden? So there are more skill building options

One of my favourite builds in the sims ever! The gym, the pool, the landscaping and especially the actual school building, so incredible!!!

With get together, you could probably put some “after school” club rooms upstairs. Like a painting club room, board games clubhouse, pranksters hideaway, etc. Would also make sense to move the staff lounge up there too, it’s locked off anyways

It would be cool to make the second floor the elective wing with easels, flower arranging, wood working, etc. You could even lock the doors to specific groups and stuff if you don’t want them wandering up there.

Hey James, in part 1 I mentioned about putting in a nurses station and administration office. I am glad to see that you have added the nurses station/sick bay. Altough it may be just for decorative purposes an admin office would complete a school. The admin office is like the hub of a school (well in the US) where people can see the principal, get info about their classes, and parents/guardians can get access to their kids for what ever reason. Thanks for making a part 2. I am looking forward to you using this school in your LP. Blessings.

The basketball court is a really good idea

You did amazingly, you made the whole place feel connected from the car park to the running track field at the back and the auditorium on the otherside. Before there was so much free space that everywhere felt seperated

Would love to see you utilize the upstairs for skill building. Art room, music room, woodworking shop. Definitely put the computer lounge where the nurses room is - for gameplay you'd only go there for naps! Love the build

James, for the swimming pool lanes you could just make stripes yourself with different colored floor patterns :)

this is SO thoughtfully built, thank you! there are so many highschools being made that i love the aesthetics of but i know they'd be a pain to play. this one looks great and checks all the boxes for me.

imagine the dirt that would trail in if there was only one entrance to the changeroom through the pool area! Usually there is a door in the main lobby to the changeroom and then another door through the showers to encourage people to rinse before they enter the pool. The university showers would be perfect for that.

I agree with those commenting the computers could be part of the library. For upstairs could be cool to have a music room, arts and crafts room with easels and woodworking tables etc. Also, since it’s all about teenagers, might be super cool to build like a big semi-abandoned storage room/closet up there where the kids could sneak off to! Kinda like in the Never ending story.

I downloaded it before I even started watching the video... just because I got overwhelmed by trying to build my own. and my jaw hit the keyboard. Absolutely gorgeous build, I WANT to play in this high school

I put this in my game before even looking at the one that comes with the pack 😂 so impressed with this James!! I love the nurses office, the pool, the auditorium!!!! Love it. I wish we could play as teachers with this pack. I teach high school IRL and I wish I worked here 😂

You could add rooms for activities in the second floor: chess club, computers, arts and crafts, yoga/meditation (with spa day) A science lab too!! With minerals, rocks, collectibles 😍😍😍

I would add the workout room to the gymnasium and turn the current room into to the computer lab. I would use the second floor for classrooms that are not part of gameplay…Art, Music, Science etc. Don’t need to use the whole floor but Arts could be where the Auditorium stairs lead and Sciences by the Library stairs. It’s a great build and really reflects a typical wealthy American High School.

The basketball court was the PERFECT size to make a full sized court. Thank you for this amazing build!

Having different colored lights in the same hallway is very reminiscent of my high school

Great build! Love the details like gymnasium, pool, auditorium, library…. Would like to see like an Art Room, Music Room, and Wood shop.

in the auditorium behind the lectern, I would install a screen instead of the window ( or perhaps even the Movie and have a popcorn machine in the hallway ?) and you'll need a chess table and a computer lab as I believe there are those clubs you can choose

This is amazing! I went to an American high school, but it was nowhere near as fancy. This looks more like a college campus (in a good way). The main high school building actually reminds me of my university's library.

A dome roof section on the pool hall would look really great and tie into the main school building as well!

the build looks incredible! very detailed and has a more realistic feel for sure. i'd love to see some club rooms on the second floor, like a music room, chess, computer lab, wood shop, art room, maybe even a games room or cooking class?

If you DO end up having to put something on the 2nd floor. You could also just put empty classrooms and/or “club” classrooms. Art, gaming, music, chess, theatre. In case you wanted to do some skill building on lot. Also you could keep them low furniture just have a couple desks against a wall and voila! room for activities. BUT to make sure sims don’t go to them by themselves just lock the door for everyone. You could do that with the computer room too. And only unlock when you want to use it. In fact you could make a stairwell, and put a door there and lock it lol. But if that turns out to be unnecessary then I think the school you have now should work great!

Now this is what I thought the High School was gonna be like when they 1st announce it. Cause this makes sense, very much sense to me. Great High School James 💯

The balconies at the entrance reminded me of my old high school, which also had those. Pranksters and dirtbags would use them to chuck stuff down, or spit on people's heads so often they had to station teachers around there during breaks to catch them. On the last day of school, some big prank would happen every year. One year a girl released 200 bouncy balls

It would be nice with some offices for the teachers up stairs. For prep work, grading and other work stuff. They could have nice personal touches, making the school feel more "alive"

Very cool build. If you feel like adding them, you need the following rooms for real world accuracy: - choir room - band room - art classroom - science classroom - woodshop/autoshop classroom - computer lab - newspaper/yearbook classroom - agriculture classroom - secretary/receptionist desk - debate class - theater classroom/stage Just some ideas for filling up the top if you feel like it. ETA: also concession stand in the gym

Love the combination of realism and usefulness! The build looks AMAZING!!! Love all the details, especially love the landscaping and the terrain manipulation of the lot!

I love this layout. I would just add a couple computers in the library.

This build is beautiful with just base game and the pack, but I would love to see a version with all the packs! I feel like the amount of detail you could put in would really elevate this build

The build is so good! My 2 ideas would be to shuffle the principals office and waiting area to the current faculty lounge, and then use those 2 rooms as a nice computer lab. My 2nd idea would be to change the gym roof detail to glass roofing so the light can shine in, and maybe add one to the pool building as well? Love your builds James ❤️

Was gonna build and use my own high school but James has once again proven he is a much better builder than i will ever be….

That’s a very fancy high school! My school was big but kind of old school when I was there, now it looks like a college campus with all the remodeling they have done. There was only 2 levels (first floor and basement), a newer wing building with two floors, no pool and we had portable classrooms/trailers outside.

A science room, a dance studio and and art room would be amazing added to this too. It would look so cool as added decorative room

Amazing build like always James. I think the base game lockers in the pool area would be better more like temporary locker... so they can't decorate it or have play action on them. Great job!

The auditorium you built holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me of all my years in theatre 🥰

I think the upstairs would be great for more decorative/skill building rooms. Like chess club, music, art, robotics, science, knitting/embroidery, home economics/cooking, woodshop etc. (Probably not all of these, but there are so many possibilities.) It could be a good space to use the ridiculously huge objects like the cupcake machine, microscope, or space observatory.

Was soooo glad to see the basketball gym and and natatorium added. Very much giving TV show high school vibes.

I believe the Principal will sit at the desk in the nurse's office because it is the same desk you used in her office (the rounded desk). I think the faculty lounge is a good option to replace with the computer lab. And maybe add some chess tables in the plaza in the back of the school.

My high school did not have a nurse's office so as a chronically sick/injured kid I really appreciate that you put one in your build

As a former artsy/extra curricular student, not a jock or on a sports team, I'd love to see some art rooms, music rooms, and other skill building rooms upstairs! As the former environmental science club leader, a rooftop garden/greenhouse would be incredible as well!

Vending machine (under cover) around the pool entrance or auditorium would be good. All in all excellent! I agree with adding relevant but not required skill-building items for an art room, wood workshop, and music room. It'd be a good use of that space right around the stairs, only used outside school hours, Sims rarely auto-route, and it won't impact frame-rates if those rooms have lean mean decor. I'd remove the tables from the library so students won't automatically route there for lunch (seems they route to dining chairs, explains the principle's office issue) and replace with loveseats or armchairs; could add a few computers and maybe one chess table (possibly research computer if you did an all pack version.) You could add extra dining tables and chairs outside on the big patio too... I like the landscaping but that's more functional and realistic to me. I definitely agree about replacing the faculty room and entrance foyer for principle with computer lab and chess club even though they look nice and make sense as is; they're better as usable spaces (technically they use the lounge for coffee but it's a nuisance when you need to talk to Mei on the first day.) I'd also love to see you add in the basketball court along with some additional changes to enhance the pool as a future "all packs" version of this build! That way people have more options to use and we get to see your original vision. :) Additional edit: I'm gonna guess they put the computer room and chess room on another floor so Sims wouldn't route there during lunch in retrospect. Hrmm... Might not be an issue but it's not impossible. Those use dining chairs after all.

Am I the only one thinking James is a genius?? This building has EVERYTHING!

Okay but the hill cutting in differently on the left and right sides of the stairs drives me nuts 😅🥲 the build as a whole is super cool though, love all the levels the hill makes, and love how the whole building is sprawling but the necessities are all together

I vote skill rooms upstairs, art, music, woodwork, home ec and also maybe extra class rooms, you could lock the doors to the other classrooms. Also, you could make the teacher lounge the principals office and then both of the room in the principal area could be compute lab. Nice build.

The cheer mat will sit on top of the city living basketball courts awesome.

The sims need to hire you as the director of building because this is so well thought out. I like the idea of some other skill building rooms on the second floor since there is a mod now that will allow for club meetings on the premises. so art classes or cooking classes could be possible but individuals can add those themselves

This is such a great build! One little change that might be cool would be using the theatre seating chairs from Wolf pack for the auditorium.

The auditorium/theatre chairs from werewolves would be perfect for the auditorium you built! Loving the rest of the school build so far

There wouldn't be a gameplay point to it, but I would add a science lab in the upstairs space, and a music room. Woodshed and robotics would be awesome.

James this is amazing! Can't wait to use your build for gameplay. Main things to add: -Agree with others you can add chess and computers to existing library -Would love to see music and art, also handiness like a workshop. Could add those upstairs maybe? -Super small detail but our school nurse always gave us ice packs for everything (I think they couldn't give us meds w/o parent permission) so a mini fridge would be a funny detail 😂 also Get to Work stuff would make that area more accurate.

Consider this building challenge: a historically accurate White House. Its bonkers: The main driveway entrance is located on the second floor; the grand staircase twists into four flights between floor 2 and 3; two semicircular bedrooms; and three oval rooms inside semicircular porches. I've been at it for half a week and barely got the walls up. It would be interesting to see how you interpret it.

I feel like this build, and the ones for Wearwolfs, really shows how much James loves to build in this game - and how awsome he is! I'm stunned, and one of the main reasons for me to buy this pack is to play in this high school. When I see the excitement when he builds and speaks about it, I just know i NEED to try this for my self!

The high school I attended was built in 1893 and remodeled during the 1910s/1920s, so the aesthetic of this build made me feel really nostalgic

Splendid!! I think you did an exceptional job! Since you asked, I think you missed the science lab or computer room where the geeks get on and learn programming and whatnot. And I have an idea for all that space upstairs, why not have Reginald sneak in a bed so he can sneak up there and have a nap before classes or Cheer?

JAMES!! THIS IS THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL BUILD I'VE EVER SEEN!! you're so talented and u outdid yourself! I LOVE THE INDOOR GYM WHERE U PUT THE CHEERMAT OUT, CAN'T WAIT TO ADD THE BASKETBALL HOOPS!!! it'd be lovely if you could add an art room, woodworking/handicrafts room, a dance studio, a music room, a computer lab definitely, maybe another indoor cheer studio as well (so we can replace the one in the indoor gym outside with basketball hoops instead). OH! AND OF COURSE A CHESS ROOM! for the chess club! i honestly think the auditorium u built can be a stage for bands to perform! so putting a mic stand and all the instruments and some speakers would be a good idea! and as for the classrooms, i wish they were a tad bigger, it seems pretty squeezy right now. and i think the 2nd floor should be utilised as "club rooms"! i think you're super creative in this build, especially the sick bay. i have never thought of that even though my primary and secondary schools had sick bays. totally useful! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE REGINALD play in this school~

when I have receptions that SHOULD have computers but I dont want random sims using them, I just place a chair that's not snapped to the table itself (with MOO) though it means no one can sit there at all, but when it's just decorative that's fine any way! Loving the build!

Yay! Library in the skydome room! I'd just put some computers in the library, like just swap out some bookcases for a long table with computers. It's the sorta thing some schools do anyway and you can just pretend the proper 'computer lab' is upstairs in the void space if you like...
