So what exactly was the failure...WHY were they taken out of service? I heard lots of rumours...but I sailed on one and it was great. Anyone know the facts?
Not able to achieve sustained design speeds, major wake causing damage/issues on local shorelines, extremely high fuel costs to run them at a speed that made them quicker/worthwhile and stability issues when loaded to name a few. There were issues with weight and draught of the ships as well, I believe.
I took it from horseshoe bay to departure bay and it was pretty fast ,seemed weird getting to the Island in 60 mins, sad that it wasn't enough to make it work,too bad that the BC "Liberals" put so much effort into smearing their political opponents and the ferries themselves especially when they were about to spend twice as much on an additional convention center in Vancouver which last time I checked didn't even carry passengers to anywhere.....
