I love watching you two work together. You have learned what a partnership is. Kindness and respect seem to flow from you and that will go a long way toward a happy life together for a very long time. Look what you have already accomplished in such a short time. Your garden and chicken area has been transformed already just since the snow melt!

Love watching you all…I get so happy when a new video comes out. You did great Liz, if I may.. You need a good trauma kit in the lower shed. Something that has a tourniquet and lots of stuff to stop bleeding out. With the saw mill/chainsaws and heavy equipment I just want you both to be safe and prepared to self rescue.

Awesome. I see you guys are in Idaho. We're in northern Idaho taking raw land to a homestead for long term sustainability and independence. Good videos. Only thing I'd add is always wear gloves when handling the sawmill blades. I'd like to say I learned this the hard way but even after getting a decent cut in my hand I sometimes don't heed my own advice.
@hubertwebb9869

You could put two pieces under the board that was left and cut the rest of the board without hitting the metal parts.🧡🧡🧡🧡
@andystuk8354
@andystuk8354 2 года назад
If you made a shallower first cut, for the base to rest on, the last cut would be possible. Also its possible to nip the base or very bottom edge to hold it steady. or even mount a previously cut plank to the bottom to 'lift' the last cut clear.

When stacking on stickers. Stickers should be vertical with each other to support the weight. And also be near the sands of the boards as the sticker slows the drying on the end and stops the board from splitting. They generally split to the sticker so keep it to 1/2” or 1” from the end unless you have some different length lumber you are stacking. Great content and you guys are making a lot of progress. Keep up the good work

Friday, July 1, I just ended a 20-year career in the sawmilling industry. When the blade popped off, it SHOULD have scared you. In my experience, you shouldn't be afraid of the machines, but you should always be mindful of anything out of the ordinary, anything that could cause you or those around you harm. My wife thinks I should invest in a portable sawmill.

Good choice using wood on the walls. Drywall boards suck if you don’t keep drywall climate controlled it deteriorates quickly and will absorb humidity and will grow mold. Plus you’ve already bought the wood on your property just have to cut and mill it.

If you get a couple small pieces of conveyor belt material... You can form a sweeper for your tracks... I use to run a circular mill 52" driven by a Cummins Diesel.. I set up the mill and could cut 47 feet and it was off less than a 32 of an inch
@perriem
@perriem Год назад
Never have your hand on the height adjuster for any reason other than what it was intended for. Always start with the small end and level the "Pith" so you are sawing parallel to the grain. Raise your mill about 12'' off the slab for easy cleaning and operation.

Getting better at the excavator maneuvers. Fuel is so high you don't have much time to play with it. But play is what needs to happen to increase skill, really come down to familiarity of machine nuances, you ability to get the tongs on that log was sweet work, keep up Yall knocking it outta the park. P.S. send rain we'll send the heat we got plenty

Some kind of pole or hook to get the log tongs off would be a good idea. Hydraulic lines can burst very unpredictably, dropping the boom faster than you can imagine, especially on older equipment; you don't want any part of your body potentially in the crush zone.

Nice video, good job. You guys will save yourself a lot of aggravation if you use the lock handles on that mill. You shouldn't have to hold the height adjusting handle while cutting. In fact your mill will track straighter and roll easier if you push with right hand on the handle by the throttle and the left hand on the gas tank. The lock handles are the silver pipes on each side that flip up and down. Down locks the height once you set it. Sitting here covered in sawdust from using my mill all day. Cheers!
