I built my place 14 years ago completely with ICF! I’m huge fan of this building practice. Super energy efficient. I’m on the west coast on built mine 3 storeys. The basement is completely underground with window wells for natural light and egress. By having the basement completely underground I’m utilizing the ground to provide the “comfort” in the home with the aid of an HRV. After 14 years my furnace has only kicked in 4 times. The basement stays a constant 21 degrees. The main floor 20 degrees. And the upper floor 19 degrees. It really is a great way to build! As an added bonus, being the west coast, this build style is seismic! Looking forward to watching your progress.

It's a smart idea, what they do with older homes is excavate around the perimeter of the foundation, place the foam insulation up next to it, and then backfill to bury and hold it in place. This technology is doing it all at once plus installing foam insulation on the inside of the wall as well.

... I've seen different methods of ICF done over the years and think it's a very sound system .. Have only worked with poured foundations/basements have no hands-on experience with it but am impressed .. .. Look here Careena clowning around ,, showing that life in and out of the forest is a juggling act ...lol.. .. Oh my !! Having to be a Temptress to get Brandon to call it a day ..... gives a whole new meaning to .. "Bushcraft" ... ... Supervisor Grizz getting distracted with a little game of "Frogger" .... .. Not only can they build but she can also juggle, show off!🤣 I don't know much about construction so this is very new and exciting to me. I know over here most houses are built with cinder blocks but I have seen some constructions (like my neighbors) that used a similar method but instead of foam molds they use wooden panels. I think they went a little overkill cause the base of their cement fence was about 4 feet wide with rebar. Can't wait for the next video🤟🏽

The building inspectors in our area will only approve footings on undisturbed soil for footings. Loose material on piled projects only. Love your channel you two!

In the UK those foundations would have had around 2 days constantly being brought up in 6 inch layers and hammered all day with Bomag 120 vibrating rollers and when finished they would be movement tested for around 6 hours which involves an instrument under a 25 tom excavator sitting on it and if at the end of that time it moved even a fraction it was a fail and do it all over again.

I too used to work in home construction but have never worked with ICF. It will be neat to see this process. At least you were only pouring footings otherwise that concrete could have been worse to work with. Hopefully they didn't mess up your order and give you the wrong psi mix or something. Looks like you guys are going to need a bunch of fill with your basement floor only slightly below grade now. Walk out basement maybe? I will wait and see. 😃

I saw ICF several years ago and I've wanted to build my next house using it. But we bought a house on 5.12 acres in the Ozark National Forest, so maybe one of these years if we decide to rebuild or add on, I can use it. Looking really nice y'all!

Thank you for such an informative content. I will be soon starting my ICF house in South Florida using FoxBlocks and flat InsulDeck ICF roof. I have studied everything, but worry mostly about managing the actual pour. Have never done ICF, but succeeded on sizable addition to our existing home (I am a software engineer by trade). Do you think I will make a mistake by going with flat ICF roof?

Can you go over calculating how many forms to buy in a video and calculations on window and door openings?

Cool project. How do keep the outside layer of foam from being a giant ants nest? This problem kept me from using icfs.
