Just great. This has become my favorite model railroad channel because of the semi scale trains, awesome collection, and great video production.

Semi-scale is such an excellent alternative! You get the benefits of the O gauge without the drawbacks of those expensive prices

Using the markers to change numbers on rolling stock is such a great idea! - Ryan

Those are great hints on how to make semi scale seem scale. Great point about the 15 inch passenger cars. You have found a great way to balance semi scale and realistic look.

Fantastic video! Really love the marker tip for re-lettering rolling stock, could help when there is only so many of one item! Keep up the good work!

Your collection looks very nice. I have a wide range. I enjoy all eras of Lionel trains. I have a lot of post war. I usually drift towards railroads that have a Wisconsin connection. The Wisconsin related railroads don’t narrow it down much either.

Unplanned organ donation harvest, LOL. Love it, I'm gonna use that one.

All really good points Mike! After being a generalist collector for years I narrowed my collecting to those roads which ran in Wisconsin or the Midwest. I have a small layout (actually three small layouts) and smaller sized engines and rolling stock look more at home on them. None of my engines are larger than a Hudson or Berk and passenger cars are 15” or less.

Nice. 15" passenger cars are the way to go. The Lionel Super Speedliner cars, originally made starting in 1952, are 15". I collect AMT passenger cars and they are 14", but look just as long, or longer, as the Lionel cars because they are a bit lower-slung. There are so many options in the semi-scale world and you can pack in so much action into a smaller layout and actually make it look bigger than it really is. I would love to get one of those semi-scale Pennsy T1 Duplex engines to pull my AMT Pennsylvania Broadway set. A very good video.

I love our T-1 Duplex! We got the TMCC LionMaster version but I do wish I had waited to find the Legacy LionMaster since it has better sounds, Smoother controls, and whistle steam.

Thanks Mike! Another great informative and entertaining video! I imagine it can be a bit tedious, but fun, researching scale vs semi-scale items to buy. Btw, do you script your videos or are more off the cuff? You always sound so relaxed and natural, and maybe that’s just you!

Thanks, man! It’s fun making these and I’ve been used to talking/presenting stuff for awhile. I write out ideas and usually flesh stuff out as-lib or write them out further if I’m struggling. Some video ideas are just off the cuff no prep, but more often I try to think them through more so I have some sort of structure or script to follow.

@@Dadified86 I was a trainer, amongst other things, in IT for 20 years and could ad lib with the best of them. But, I stumble constantly with RU-vid videos. No reason for it, but ...

While I usually just get anything that looks good to me, (I blend semi scale with scale sometimes), I’m going to start focusing on collecting Canadian railway locomotives and rolling stock (Just Canadian National and Canadian Pacific) as well as some of the lines that merged into CN/CPKC. (Such as Illinois Central or Soo Line) Having some rolling stock of the Northeastern railroads that could have crossed over into Canada. (Despite the fact that I live in Georgia in the Deep South)
