Just as many others have, I've seen, read and tinkered with all manners and ideas of different types of Tesla coils, Oudin, Lahkovsky, D'Arsonval, etc.... & I must say, your 6-pack Spark-Gap TC info/build vids pack the PERFECT balance of theory, math & calculation, common sense, simple building, and safety pointers (especially for those just getting into building and theory of operation, and don't just want to see a SINGLE specific build, but trying to understand the adjustable and affecting variables within the many differences of the 'basic' Tesla coil circuit). Very nicely done my friend!! And you cat seems awesome!!! I'm sure you keep her/him nicely paid as your Quality Inspector (in treats and toys & random boxes of course 😉)😸👍

Hey great work 👍🏾 liked those continues sparks.... I think you can try something different for spark gap.. because if it is heating so badly means it is waisting lot of power , if u use fan it will just dissipate heat but might now help with sparking.. or improve efficiency

btw, how could the tesla coil destroy electronics when plugged in to the socket ground? does it somehow induce a very high voltage and frequency current into the ground cable that travels around to all the electronics' ground, just blasting them with a high voltage pulse? if so, how come it doesn't just return to actual ground?
@oniruddhoalam2039
@oniruddhoalam2039 4 года назад
The electromagnetic fields of the Tesla coil can induce voltages into the circuits through electrostatic and electromagnetic induction. Also the sparks are kind of unpredictable. The direction where the sparks would go depends on air ionization, air temperature, etc. So if there are electronics in the room, voltages can appear in the circuit through electrostatic and electromagnetic induction and also the sparks might touch the inner parts of the electronics and burn them or the voltage can travel from the electronics to ground. You may say that electricity takes the path of least resistance and should go directly to ground. But at such high voltages, the resistance of the circuits of the electronics is not so important and the state of the air, such as its temperature, amount of charged particles and the distance from something grounded matters more.
@Conservator.
@Conservator. 4 года назад
ThatThingCalledTheGalaxy Especially when the electronics are grounded the sparks will like to discharge via the electronics to ground. Since not every component is grounded a spark could go via one or more components to ground and destroying them while doing so. The grounded metal outside of the washing machine should however protect the electronics inside. (forming a Faraday cage)

Having had unwound too many microwave oven transformers I can say the secondary enamel is almost always degraded. The primary enamel usually survives, but the much thinner wire probably effects the enamel adherents perhaps? The primary is almost always an alloy type wire which seems much lighter than copper. Actually I just weighed one and it’s {looks at note } 192 gm I cut the cross sectional area to weigh it roughly, and it is about 950gm If we assumed a perfect half between secondary and primary {it’s not} then even if the area the primary was wound was 450gm That seems like a very light primary.

That's great performance but why didn't you use your tuner? You can measure the secondary (remote from the primary) the way you showed before, and you can measure the primary (remote from the secondary) by shorting at the spark gap and connecting your tuner across the primary coil. For the primary test, the LEDs are bright EXCEPT at resonance. Looking forward to seeing your next video when the system is properly (safely) built and tuned, and giving its best show.
