For your bass drum head bottom shelve in the second studio doorway, get a thin piece of plexi glass and put it across the front of the shelve to make a built in bin!

One idea for the storage closet: you couldve build the slide in shelves at an backwards angle on top (matching the angle of the wall) wich would allow you to get more depth out of them and also use the room wasted by the tilted ceiling

I made something very similar to those two lower units for my workshop, although a lot smaller, to keep things like dowel rods, slats and threaded rods. Very minor change, if the lowest unit is mounted four, five inches higher, the floor can be swept with a broom.
@mknaylor
@mknaylor 3 года назад
I figured out that I could use a broom/mop hanger for some of my cymbal stands. If you get one that's heavy-duty, it'll hold a few stands with no problem. Could be good for one of your doors.

You probably resolved the issue a long time ago but re: the bass drum heads, I'd just make a tray out of plywood that fits snugly into the bottom space, about the same proportions as the "lucky bins", maybe a bit taller, and mount it on sliders, like kitchen drawers, so you can pull it out at least some ways. Put some dividers in there and job done.

All my hardware is as light and compact as can be, and I use a very minimal type set up. It all fits neatly in a box. As for my spare heads? They get shoved away wherever they fit.

A bungee stretched across the bass drum head shelf would hold those in place! Just put a couple anchor points on either side of the shelf about halfway up
@xXKASsNiPeSXx

For the bass drum heads, you might be able to put in a cross beam of wood that can rotate out of the way to get the heads out, but can lock in place to where the heads wont fall out. Maybe? Just a thought. Love your videos, cant wait to see what other projects you will have this year!

Get a guitar strap of maybe just a bungee cable and stretch it across the front attached to a screw or something on the sides of the bottom shelf to hold the bass drum heads back.

For the bass drum heads just use a closeline cord. Tie one side to an eyelet screw. The other side use a screw hook and simply knot the closeline to itself. Easy on, easy off.

As far as holding the bass drum heads up... do you have enough room to create a pivot bar? Meaning... affix a thin piece of wood or metal on one side with a pivot pin, and the other side would be a stop. The arm could swing up, allowing you to remove the heads. Then it could drop back down allowing gravity to keep the arm resting on the stop.
@nonesovile8812
@nonesovile8812 3 года назад
Probably said already but how about mounting somehow a couple of bungee cords of some type to keep the bass drum heads standing up without falling out the closet. Besides that I dig the way you think with the dyi mentality, same goes for me and my studio. But I will say you have the drumming headquarters thing down to a tee, from organization to your live room right down to your work shop. It's like a drummer/diy'ers mecca.

Man, i love your workshop type video's! Perfect drum room :-) Also, I was thinking for holding the bass drum heads back maybe you can install a magnet suspended piece of plywood which you can just push backwards to release and then pick out the bass heads that you need. That way the force of the heads doesn't push off the wood when you don't want it to.

You just gave me an idea David . I have drum stuff In two of my closets In the house . I need to consolidate All of My Drum stuff Into one closet Which is the bedroom I converted into my practice room / Studio . It is a humble 11 by 12-foot room But it's all I got . Then I can take my drum set out of the master bedroom Unassembled Where It doesn't belong . But I don't know how creative I'm going to get with this . And there's no room in that closet to put my kick drum . What to do ?
