$7,000,000,000 final cost. Same suspension style could have been done with NON-FUNCTIONAL tower and wires for $700,000,000 by DELETING unneeded wide ship crossing space underneath that required costly construction to accommodate. Since ALL tall ships cross under the west span anyway, $6,300,000,000 was WASTED.
dude hush, tha old bridge ain't really made to handle another earthquake, yea go ahead and build another bridge just like what tha old Bay Bridge was like somewhere where they ain't earthquakes, tha new bridge works in places like San Francisco and Oakland where there's tons of Earthquakes and tha old bridge don't even look much taller than tha new one so what's a few feet off gunna make a difference of?
I and My Wife will never drive across this accident waiting to happen. Too many problems with the integrity with the material and construction metheds. I do not care what the so called experts say.
it'll be more reliable to a Earthquake prone place tha tha old bridge and besides, if another earthquake happened like what it did in 1989, tha old bridge would completely fall apart vs tha new bridge which it's designed for an earthquake
