My first custom mechanical keyboard! Let me know if you think I should make more videos like this? What is a recent purchase you’ve been super excited about?

I am incredibly happy with how these turned out and I would highly recommend anyone who wants a budget, thocky mechanical keyboard to build something similar!
.
I ordered the Gamakay LK67 from Banggood because of it’s great reviews, its great price and because of the features. It can connect to your PC using a 2.4ghz wireless dongle, or via USBC. It can also connect up to three additional devices via Bluetooth! I have it connected to my phone at the moment as I type out this caption! It is incredible.
.
For switches, I went with the Gateron Ink Black V2s. These switches are incredible especially after lubing and filming them. They are super linear and smooth also have a fantastic sound.
.
After adding foam under the PCB, lubing the switches and included stabilizers, I topped it off with a set of Akkogear Red & Blue Samurai keycaps. I think they look and sound incredible!

This is really well done for the first time. i know it probably took a lot of research. The great choice of bare bones kit to the switches and the bandaging/filming of the switches. Well done man.

Ngl, this short was straight up nostalgia for me. I built my first keyboard 2 years ago with the exact same case, akko keycaps, and everglide aquakings (with black ink being my second choice). The LK67/TM680 value proposition really can't be beaten lol.

Definitely not a bad board. The best entry level boards that you can still get are probably the QK65 or the Q2 in terms of 65%. Still looks nice though

⁠boards like qk65 and q2 are aluminum body boards so they are gonna cost more and need more quality control. Many plastic keyboards are made in bunches because they are easier to control quality of them.

Black inks aren't that cheap but are a fantastic switch. I still use them in my main keeb. It's great to see them used.

I used the lazy lubing method and it works fine. I used a 3 keyboards 1 as a control 1 with lazy method and 1 with the normal method. They sound the same so Ill stick with lazy method!

Just a tip from someone that has a lot of custom keyboards, if you won’t be getting any separate stabilizers and are going with the case ones, you might want to add some climber’s tape between the plate and stabs, so you can reduce the wobble. I do this every time, no matter the stabilizers. Other than that you did great, definitely better than my first build. You might have went a little soft when you lubed your switches, but I didn’t get to see the entire process, so I can’t judge.

as also a owner of this and have been in this play for long time, 1./ You maybe a bit overlubed 2./ The stock stab are trash btw, replace it with a Cherry stab that has been holed,lube.. 3./ This keyboard's bottom should be filled with silicon not the normal foam because it sound too hollow to me 4./ you can try to tape the board for louder sound

I have a keyboard business and I understand the annoyance of having to lube every switch. I have a stand which allows me to do things way quicker but it’s still very slow and tedious. I usually watch Netflix or RU-vid while I’m doing it❤❤

Respect it. Only thing is, the Ink Blacks don't really need filming as there's very little housing wobble to begin with. Other than that looks good, cleaner with the RGB off but das just me.

the stab still kinda ticking, you should balance the wire also with the switchs, you should clean all the prelube then lube it again for the smoothness

This was over a year ago, the lube most likely spread evenly throughout the switches. I agree on balancing the wire, doesn’t hurt to try.

1) bag lube your switches, much more convenient 2) Ink blacks are really expensive. Really budget? 3) I would recommend using that one foam for the plate. Place it on top to get a creamier sound. Just my criticisms, love the vid

1) yeah i didnt know about bag lubing. literally my first go and this is what i read about. 2) i still wanted it to be a really nice keyboard that i wanted to use. i went with ink blacks. total build cost was $200 - which i think is pretty budget. 3) might give that a try if im ever brave enough to open it up again. Ill keep your points in mind for next time!

The keyboard was so clean, with strong but not overly bright colours, it looked great. The RGB is so pointless and ugly, it doesn’t even match the other colours at all.
