Today at Badgerworks, we build yet another Fokker Eindecker, this time the Eduard "Weekend edition" in 1/48 scale.

A very enjoyable watch from start to finish.....particularly enjoyed the commentary and the various bits n pieces of weathering. I love building WW1 aircraft but find the rigging a pain....you made it look so easy. I've only come across your channel recently and am slowly trawling through your earlier work....a great pastime I must admit. Thanks again!!

Lovely job, silk purse out of a sow's ear maybe? That kit was pretty shoddy really, but you turned it round well. That rigging does really look good, but I think you could maybe dull it down a bit, weather it a tad? Just a thought. Keep it up, great channel.

Thanks, I appreciate it. The rigging elastic tends to look quite shiny on camera; it's actually a lot more dull in real life. I do sometimes mist over it with matt varnish, or it can be painted with acrylics too, but I generally prefer the silver look as it more closely matches the Bowden cable I've seen.

"That belongs in a museum!" The model, not you SteamGeezer! Wonderful work! Always a pleasure to see a master at work creating works of art. Thanks for sharing! BTW - imagine being a pilot and breathing in all that castor oil during flight. No wonder the pilots has scarves on to try and shield themselves from it. I also wonder if pilots had a chamber-pot on board, just in case, you know, "that" happens.

Nice job again, I share your interest in Eindeckers. Not sure if you'd call £60 + p&p ferociously expensive (actually I do, but that didn't stop me!) but Hannants have the WNW Immelman Eii - complete with Immelman figure. Just saying... ;-)

Thanks. I'm going to get the WNW model one day but, finances as they are right now, £60 is money I can't afford to spend on a kit. I'm trying to get through my stash too before I buy any more. I've had people offer to send me kits before but I can't afford a PO box and I'm not giving out my home address to strangers... :-)

I am also a big fan of Eindeckers. Have made a 1:72 scale model and love the wiring detail. How did you get your name SteamGeezer? Just curious because I have a company called STEAM Powered Education

The name actually came from a photo of my son that was taken at a Steampunk event a few years ago. He looked like a dodgy little spiv looking to sell fake watches, so I came up with the name Steamgeezer and it just stuck. As I used to sell various items at the markets at such events, we came up with a "brand name" of Steamgeezer & Son Independent Traders, a play on the Trotters from the TV show "Only Fools and Horses" :-)

Have a look at the Eindecker instructions on the WNW site, their method for the turned aluminium works very well. I used it with great success on the one I bought from them.

I’m new to modeling but thought I would try this weekend edition. Seemed like a good place to develop rigging skills. I did fine until I got to the rigging. Any advice on lighting and magnification equipment? I really struggled threading the rigging through such small holes. Thanks! John Reed, Orlando Florida

You can buy magnifiers that you wear like glasses, that often have lights built into them. A cheaper option, however, can be a set of reading glasses from the Pound Shop or Dollar Store. I have a set of 3.5x magnification glasses I bought for £1. As for lighting, I use some 10w LED floodlights wired into a 12v power supply I made myself, but for most people a good desk lamp will probably be a better option. I found two in a local discount store for about £5 each and they work pretty well.

@@johnreed3039 Happy to help. You might want to consider "half moon" glasses if you go that route - I sometimes find it easier with those as I can look over the top of them if I need to, usually to find stuff on the bench :-)

That would be quite small... :-) I did some 1/350 scale Supermarine Walruses for a board game before. That put me off smaller scale stuff for a while. I did once build a 1/144 scale Tomcat with my son, before I started this channel.
