Nice model design but molding is not up to what one may expect: there is no scissor on the nose UC strut; the fit is not very good mostly in the nose and intakes areas. the main wheel bays should have been better detailed Definitely not a beginner's model

Very nicely done Intruder. It was an added bonus for you to add some historical references on the A-6 & mentioning of the movie by Stephen Coont’s book. My friend is in the development of R/C model kit of the A-6E with 12-foot w/s. All surface controls including slats, flaps, retracts & more fully operational.. Thank you. Job well done. Gary

Overall I really enjoy your Channel on You Tube, and this is one of many videos that I've gone back and watched again. There a bit like watching a good Star Wars movie! I've been building models since I was10 years old and have built a number of kits over the last 30 years and entered models into IPMS model competitions. But I'm always really impressed with how you have streamlined the process of model building, not only do you start kits but you also finish them! I've adopted several of your weathering and masking techniques and look forward every new video you produce. Keep up the good work !!!

I lost my small handful of semi-decent model builds from my adult life in basement flood about 10 years ago and haven't gone back to the hobby yet... But your videos are starting to give me the itch again! (In a perfect storm of bad luck, I had a bunch of stuff, including my few completed builds, just laying on the basement floor while I was doing a bunch of painting / flooring work on the main floor.... and boom... big thunderstorm... drain backup... 16 inches of water in the basement) I've been binge watching your videos and I'm loving them. I will be 'that guy' who isn't a huge fan of the heavy accents on all the panel lines... just visually strikes me as a bunch of two inch gaps between all the panels if brought up to scale... but that is an age-old modeling argument that will never reach consensus... Although I do use similar shading methods on control surfaces, I like the effect there, as more prominent clearances exist on the aircraft. But personal preferences aside, this is gorgeous work. Just watching you attach all the fiddly bits started making my fingers feel arthritic! One of those unsung joys of modeling! heh
@MaxAfterburner
@MaxAfterburner 5 лет назад
Thanks Jason, a lot of variety and improvements as to the materials, paints, etc that would surprise you. It might be also fun for you to experience those along with building again.

@@MaxAfterburner I noticed the Tamiya pre-mixed panel line wash is something that I hadn't seen before and that seems to work well. If you don't mind me asking, as I can't remember which video I saw it in.... but what type of airbrush do you use? I have an ancient siphon feed Paasche that I probably bought 25ish years ago still stashed away somewhere... but that thing was always a bit of a pain in the ass. Do you have a hobby/airbrush specific compressor as well? any recommendations there? Last kits I built I used the trusty and crusty old Craftsman pancake compressor... but would like something I could use in the house without waking up the wife and kids. Went poking around my storage room just now and still have a few kits in waiting. Might get back into the swing with an old Monogram raised panel line F-16 that probably came from molds created in the 1970s. That should get me a good amount of putty and sanding practice. :)
@MaxAfterburner
@MaxAfterburner 5 лет назад
I have an old style clunky Paasche compressor that has held up with all the noise too. I know there are much quieter ones on the market now, but I don't have the heart to retire this one until it gives out. I use an Iwata NEO as my airbrush.

Just for future knowledge...no Naval aircraft ejection seats were allowed to go with worn paint. The greatest enemy of an aircraft at sea (other than adversaries) was salt water corrosion, and the seats and cockpits were inspected daily and any worn areas were painted to cover them and keep them safe from any salt water effects. All bare, stainless components were lightly greased to aid in anti-corrosion treatments. Also, any worn or dirty parachute and seat belts were replaced to prevent deterioration and to keep the strength of the material. As an AME (Aviation Structural Mechanic, Environmental and Egress Equipment) for 3 1/2 years with VF-102, I dailyed numerous aircraft both on board ship and back at NAS Oceana, VA. No aircraft was allowed to launch until it was done, so there were many late nights in the hangar on shore waiting for other shops to finish so we could do our inspections, and we were the last to daily an aircraft on board before launch. If any work was done in the cockpit after our inspection, we had to re-do our inspection to insure the bird was safe for launch. I've watched many build videos and too often builders would add wear and grime to the seats. I hope this will help in future builds and for any other builders who have watched. The build overall was excellent with this minor error.
@IntrudersForever
@IntrudersForever 5 лет назад
Thank you for your service Jim. I agree with you 100%. When a scale modeler does this it is to highlight raised areas of detail that would be lost to the naked eye. Gives it a "reflection" that sunlight would do on the actual aircraft if it were a full scale bird. Most modelers will dry brush these details yet I really like the technique this modeler did. It's merely to make the details pop out to a viewers eye and not so much to represent worn paint.

yet another stunning masterpiece Max! thank you for returning to us lesser human beings to give us these glimpses of perfection. i cannot fathom why anyone would/could give a thumbs down for this. always entertaining and educational. so sounds like WW2 navy might be coming up next? whatever it is i will be standing by to learn! thank you sir!!!

Hi, so great to hear from you again with your continued support! The WWII build should create new challenges and a chance to present different techniques not used on modern aircraft models. I think there is a guy subscribed to this channel with his clicker on the "thumbs down" button waiting for my latest releases. After he hits it, I stop looking at that part of the stats. 😏

Never ceases to amaze me how easy you make painting the tyres look! The only way I can do it is, knocking the paint back with enough thinner that capillary action then wicks it around the hub for me!

Aslo as a PC, we put the shoulder harness buckles on top of the parachute to make it easier for the pilot to get in. We hooked up some of their buckles for them.

Ive noticed with a lot of the hobbyboss kits with the wing fold as well the the trumpeter kits when you want to do the kits with the wing s in flight ready as in unfolded it tends to take a lot of extra work to get them to fit right. great job this build.
@MaxAfterburner
@MaxAfterburner 2 года назад
Hi Joseph, thanks! I'm guessing they're expecting most builders to fold the wings. 🤔
@Joe8648
@Joe8648 2 года назад
@@MaxAfterburner well granted it does save some display shelf space especially with the 1/32 modern jet for example my 1/32 A-1J I left the wings folded on it it's still a very large plane for a prop plane.
