@Amadi John, thank you for tuning in and thanks for the very interesting comment. Intuitively, what you are saying about compression makes sense. Never thought about it that way. For me, it has always been about having the right mix of cement, sand and water to mitigate cracks. As with all concrete buildings, cracks will be addressed over time. Again, thank you for the comment.

Great job, I like you work i have seen the block dimensions is 60cmx15cmx20cm. What is your cement strength? Quantity of sand per bag of cement and how many blocks per bag? Did you use cement and sand only or what else? What type of sand do you use? I will appreciate your response.
@AyiviTV
@AyiviTV 3 года назад
Hi there, thank you. Thanks for tuning in and your question is much appreciated. Before I respond, I would advise you to talk to a civil or structural engineer for specifications tailored to your project. I do not have the weight or density in kg/m3 of cement. What I can tell you is that these hourdi blocks are made from cement, sand and water. A 50kg bag of cement made an average of 12.4 hourdi blocks. You have the block dimensions. Construction sand, often sable siliceux, was used exclusively with cement and water to make these blocks. The blocks are cured for at least 21 days. Please note that supporting the slabs are a matrix of beams. Again, please consult your project engineer for specs tailored to your project. Thanks for the visit. Hope to see you back on the channel soon.

@@AyiviTV your education helped a lot
@jamesclarke3248
@jamesclarke3248 24 дня назад
but the problem here is that you're getting your sand wet with water, and some of it is running from (possibly) gutters. and in gutters, there are chemicals and human urine. all of these liquids change the strength properties of the block. so you must protect your sand from rain, from puddles coming from streets and gutters, because all of those things are changing the strength of the block. you can not take a chance with this, because these blocks are on the roof above peoples' heads. the chemistry normally changes with time, with all blocks. now you don't know what type of chemicals are in your water, which can have a bad reaction in the future. this can take lives. protect your sand, protect all of your materials that you put into these blocks. do it the right way, because you don't want a customer to complain that somebody got hurt, or even dead, because of your block products. so clean your environment. invest in plastic tarps and blocks to cover your sand. there is a place in Accra that tests blocks. you may take one block there, and they will tell you what the strength is. this is important, if you really want to win. but if you're playing with yourself and your time and don't check these things, this can be a disaster. do not say nobody told you. keep learning.
