Hey guys over the last two weeks I work on transforming my the dining area of my kitchen. I'm so happy this project is finally done. Making this dining nook made such a difference in my kitchen. It made the space feel so much bigger. Now the fireplace in the kitchen is really showcased. I also now have more room to put in a larger island for more countertop space.

It turned out GREAT! Thanks for keepin' it real and showing how you fixed what you didn't love. Frustrating! The mdf trim really compliments the whole design of the bench, and gives it a real polished finish. I love the juxtaposition of the finished look of the bench with your beautiful table. So cozy and intimate! When you showed your kitchen in the last video, I was wondering if you had ever toyed with having the table parallel to the fireplace. But, I see how that was a weird space to work with, especially if you want a bigger island. I think how you changed the room and styled it looks the best.

Oh thank you!!! And I gotta keep it real, it's no fun acting like nothing ever goes wrong! :) and yeah I love the white against the wood table. I think this is my new favorite DIY I'm done so far. and I totally did try out the table that way, it looked okay but it just covered up the fireplace too much and I didn't like that. I gotta show that fireplace off!!! Thanks so much for watching! :)

Out of curiosity, how deep are those seats? They look narrow; was that intentional to maximize "clean" space in the kitchen/dining room?
@MaileyElaine
@MaileyElaine Год назад
They are normal seat width at about 17 inches. I based the height and width off of the chairs I had at the time. They aren’t super narrow maybe they just look extra narrow in the final shots.

Im hoping to build sometning similar soon! This was helpful. ❤ My only suggestion is clamping the wood to your sawhorse as you cut. Cleaner cuts but also so much safer! I know someone who sawed the end of a finger off. 😮 Not a mistake i want to make.
@MaileyElaine
@MaileyElaine Год назад
Haha oh I definitely will. I don't use my circular saw much anymore since I got a miter saw. I can' more easily get straighter cuts! :) Good luck with your project its definitely a space game changer! 🥰

The bench? yes I guess it is a bit medieval now that I'm thinking about it haha. A great feast just took place about a month ago and it did feel very medieval.

Nice work! One tip if I may, please be careful cutting plywood like that, it needs to be supported fully through the cut or you are asking for the saw to kick back and that is extremely dangerous. Good luck on your next project.
@MaileyElaine

Oh thank you! and yes it was a sketchy cut I now have a better set up and a table saw haha!

So it has been a year now since you made the benches. How have they held up? Did you end up changing anything? Do guests sit at the bench, or hosts? How practical has it been? New subscriber and enjoying your large-scale makeover videos :)
@MaileyElaine
@MaileyElaine Год назад
OMG its held up great! Everyone sits on it I mainly sit on it on every day use. But I just hosted thanksgiving for 14 other family members and just had to hold 5 people it held up great. Nothing is wrong with it and its super practical for our space and makes the most sense. I'm so glad you are liking my content thanks for watching and for the questions. Hope I helped answer your questions!

Hello! What fabric did you use for the seat and does your cat scratch at it?

The cats actually don’t scratch it as all! One of the few things they don’t haha! And I got it from Joannes in the upholstery fabric section

Hi, what size/length you used for the pocket hole and screw?

Hello Mailey, okay..so this was the project you were on.!! I wonder how your brain works when you see a place, maybe like the T-800 in Terminator movie🤔😀. The creater was creative in creating your brain to create creative ideas and projects.!! 😳😳🤔WOW.., that was the most creative sentence I ever wrote.!! Maybe after effects of watching Mailey"s vlogs🤣. Are those beaches attached to each other Mailey? And, in the vent Jordan created, what is that cardboard for, beside the duct used? When you said, things were going off track, if ever I could make that much atleast, then I would print notice with my photo and publish it in newspaper and maybe throw a party also, and use those party lights even🤣 and sign up with you for that special beat-boxing bgm, by the way, who is "Inza"😅. The final outcome of the project came outstanding especially with the shark-cootery boards and the "quick L shaped corner shelf", yeah finger twister also😀. The Roman blinds just blends with the cushion cover and enhances the ambience. Very true, now the fire place gets a visual highlighting. Apart from all the magic you do with the woodwork, you are a makeup artist also.!! Do you know how to do laproscopy or bypass surgery?? Neither do I know, but I'm happy that there are somethings which you don't know either 🤓. Cant wait to see what you are going to do on island kitchen DIY project. Tc and stay safe.
@MaileyElaine
@MaileyElaine 3 года назад
This was the project that I was working on and the project that put me behind on posting haha. And wow that's deep I just think I look online and see things I like and just kind of go for it. and the benches are not attached together. The one bench with the vent I guess is now attached to the wall. and Jordan did use cardboard for the vent channel and attached that to duct. He was going to use ply wood but the cardboard ended up being easier to work with and he used gorilla glue tape. And thank you, I'm really happy with how it turned out! and I don't know how to do laparoscopy or bypass surgery. I definitely only know how to make things and do artsy things. Science was never my strong subject in school. Thanks so much for watching and for all the support! :)

@@MaileyElaine While surgeons can only extend people's life, you extend their beauty with your make up skills. Moreover, you are blessed with the skills to create or even extend the life span of any objects as well, that coffee table is a classic example. My question to you on surgery was purely out of jealousy 🤣🤣. Tc.
