5/28/2019 USA Grandpa Bill: I am so blessed just to get to see this stuff done. I never got a chance in my 71 years to see this stuff because I was always into something else. While as a mill worker, I made arched windows and doors, many curved construction pieces for prefab restaurants, etc. All our equipment was production oriented with iterations of 200 at a time. Watching you Matthias is a treat. I'm broken or severely worn in several places and 40% to 60% of the time confined to this chair stacked with pillows. I get out to the shop-garage as much as I can physically stand it. I enjoy trying my hand at some of the interesting things you do. I'm glad you are on RU-vid and there are so many of your videos. I'm even buying some of your plans. Your mechanical facility of mind, intense curiosity, never-ending energy just fascinate me and I look forward to seeing what "Matthias is up to this time." You truly belong in my hall of fame of national treasures who are those people so gifted and productive as to be inspirational. Thank you for being here and most of all demonstrating the humility of the true learner.

The original video is my woodworking singularity. This video sparked something in me when it first came out. I had only a circular saw and a few tools then. Now I have a well outfitted garage. Watching this again today I’m just as excited and stimulated as I was by it then. Thanks for the inspiration. Your videos do more for people than you may ever know.

Just in case you are wondering, yes this video did have an extra 24 second "intro" on it, which I removed just before the video hit 100k views. I can trip stuff off a video before it hits 100k views. The intro was for people who follow the channel to explain why the "repeat". For people who don't follow the channel closely, it won't be that obvious that this is a repeat from early 2012.

You've got the benefit of two kids and a new house so I trust you'll have an easier time with this than I did ;)

I appreciate the superior editing skills and the effort, but for me I liked the slower pace of the original videos. I always felt that after watching all of the parts of one of your projects, I could in principle design and build it myself if I really wanted to. This video whips by so quickly there's no time to think about why you've done things the way you have. BTW, I've bought the plans for and built your box joint jig and used it a great deal!

I've wondered why more youtubers haven't started doing this. I'm much more likely to watch a freshened up old video than I am to take the time to go back in your video catalog and rewatch something. RU-vid focuses so much on only what's been newly uploaded so re-uploading things seems to be the next step. Just like re-runs on TV, or remastered re-releases of films. Hopefully this will serve you well while your tendinitis heals.

Well, Matthias, you inspired me to build this jig and does it ever do the job well! I purchased your plans for it, printed them out and found they were spot on for dimensions and information, so I recommend them highly. The jig works wonderfully. After a few experimental joints of 1/4 and 1/2 inch, I built a small box with 1/ inch finger joints, just using the width of the saw blade itself. Worked great! Now on to larger projects. One word of advice to other builders in the US: do as I did and get yourself a pocket rule and a tape measure in metric! You'll need them for future work if you follow Matthias.

Mathias, real quickly if you're ever looking for the perfect wood to use as a spring try using crape myrtle. It's a fantastic wood for such things and in certain parts of N America, especially southern areas it's very plentiful. Many people use it to make bow and arrows and it's nearly impossible to snap apart.

a lot of the newer videos are actually recut older ones. Like this one, the original is in 4 parts, he cut it to fit in one. He has arm problems right now so he cant really lift/build stuff and hes taking a break till his arm heals. Maybe thats why? If anything, these "new" videos have a lot of material cut out so you really aren´t missing anything if you have seen the older videos.
