Welcome to the step-by-step-build of the WPL C-34KM (Metal Edition Kit) 4WD RC Car/Truck with the highly detailed Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 Hard Body. No rush, no waffling, no time lapse, (almost) no music ... just pure and raw RC Car building ... in 4K.
Note to Step 8: The links/linkages provided in the kit do not match with the links shown in the instructions. If needed, I will adjust them later, when attaching the axle and linkages to the chassis itself (Step 11).
The WPL C-34KM was kindly provided by Banggood, free for review and tests. You can check out prices and specifications with these (non-affiliate!) links:

Notes (for those who care):
This series is not intended as 'high entertainment' or as a 'bullet-proof build guide'. Just my personal build including all mistakes and mishaps.
I hope that people will join the build and especially share their experiences here with their current or past build and the individual steps of the WPL C-34KM. If you notice any mistakes, wrong screws or have any tips please share in the comment section! - With the minimal instructions provided by WPL, it is my hope that somebody, including me, will benefit from these videos and the comments from you!
I might be forcing the parts too hard or/and in the wrong order. Please be more careful with your own kit or the plastic parts might break during assembly.
If you want to paint the body - the easiest way is to paint the parts (exterior as well as interior) individually before the assembly. Also: Small amounts of glue could secure some of the smaller parts on the body better. I left mine un-glued, so I always can go back and easily disassemble the body again (if I want to paint it).
The raw video form with minimal editing/music and no time lapse is very intentional. Let's just build, without hurrying along and with enough time for you to see what is going on, make up your own mind about the kit, maybe join in on the build ... or just enjoy some pure RC Car building with no endless talking (trust me, I have been known for that). Remember, you can always pause/rewind the video to inspect the parts used more closely. Also, if it get's too quiet, please feel free to put on your own favorite music while watching.
I have divided the series into the 12 steps according to the official manual, so it will be easy for you to find the exact steps you are interested in. If there is any interest, I will also include the necessary steps not included in the manual (wheel weights, tires, electronics).
Let me know in the comment section what you think of this build video format. First time I've tried it. I just needed to try it out. For previous build video series with loads of music, editing and time lapse - check out the video-lists and playlists in my channel. For endless RC talks and RC waffling, check out my secondary channel.

Once again a great build episode. Looks like that will be a solid truck.

Yeah, real solid I hope. Thanks a lot for watching, bro.

The panhard link is supposed to be the shortest but none of the metal edition links have a short one. Did you end up using the same as the other chassis links?

Uhh … too long ago since I build this video or fiddled with this truck. But yeah, I remember different puzzles along the way. Maybe it’s visible in the video?

The screw size to the hole a little sloppy and that screw was a little short.
@NordicRC
@NordicRC 4 года назад
Bas Boy RC Yeah, that little screw is weird. There was none in the right length and I only had too short or too long 2.5 mm spares. I know these kits are cheap, but I don’t get why they are not building a kit themselves, finding the problems/solutions, before starting production. It seems like such a little extra effort, compared to the time they used in front of the 3D programs etc. Anyway, thanks a lot for watching, Mal.

Nice work. One of these days I will have to build another wpl, def gonna go with a metal edition one. I do wish the quality control was a bit better with these though

Thanks, Michael! Yeah, it will be a solid kit once it is finished. But yes, I too wish that quality control and instructions etc was a bit better. I have a hard time to understand why they didn’t sit down themselves for a couple of builds, finding the issues, sorting out the right parts/screws and doing some work on the instructions - before mass production. Couldn’t take more than a day’s work ...

It looks great, Mikael - the build goes on! Definitely some quality there, and I like your little touches like trimming the burrs off the ball joints. Looks like you are enjoying this tranquil build, as am I. Best regards from your friend Mark... :)

Hi Mark! Yeah, on and on forever. Well, I must admit I do enjoy a kit with proper instructions, parts that fit together etc etc (Tamiya) a bit more. I know some people like these kits for the DIY-factor/Figuring-it-out-yourself-factor but I’m more of the follow-the-instructions-builder 😅 Parts included in the kit in this step didn’t match the parts in the instructions, but so far so good. Looking forward finishing her. Just started a Tamiya-project. I can’t live of WPL alone 🙃 Thanks a lot for tuning in. Hope you and your family are good these days. Best wishes from over here. Today we had our first real spring-day ☺️

@@NordicRC I feel you Mikael - yeah the Tamiya kits ALWAYS have instructions that match the parts perfectly. Good you have a Tamiya to fall back on, but you are doing a great job with the WPL all the same. We are OK here at the moment, thanks, but more work for me in school to support children of essential workers, so no Easter holiday for me :-/ Still awaiting Spring too, no sign yet! :)

Uhh, yeah, I see ... I hope you get some well earned freedom after all this ... and stay safe. Such an important job you have now. Both educating children as always ... but now also making it possible for essential workers to work ... Spring has arrived here today. Will film it. Still some older videos to edit/upload.
