Jesse, any time you're doing woodworking, my favorite part is watching your joinery techniques. If you wanted to make a video now and then doing nothing more than teaching and demonstrating how to cut and fit particular joints that would be AWESOME! I, for one, really appreciate the honesty and sincerity with which you exhort us to get away from the screens and back to nature. I'm in complete agreement with you!

I loved living on a farm...spent so much time outside, I was happier back then. Still happy nowadays but not as much LOL Back then I cut trees down with an axe if they needed cutting. Was living on a farm and yeah we only needed 5 to 6 hours to work it and then we had the time to grow a garden and do other stuff. Never knew how good we had it back then until I moved to a city( State made us move). Sure wish I was back ont that farm.

Jesse, I love you man! I've been watching you for years and you've always been way ahead of any problem. However, I don't know why you insisted upon putting yourself in danger and dropping this tree the hard way. Because the tree was already leaning and the root ball was partially exposed/weakened the safest (and easiest) thing to do would have been to get behind the tree with your Hitachi and just given it a push about 10'/15' up. The release of "potential energy" would have pivoted upon the downfall at the base and pulled the stump right out of the ground solving two problems at once. You and your equipment would have been safely out of danger at all times. Of course you knew how to do it without getting hurt. Doing it with no chain saw at all is always safer. Congratulations on finding a way to live your "best life"!

Has anyone suggested adding flotation to the ends of logs in your log-booms? All that weight of the chains is sinking your logs faster than they would otherwise. Maybe there's a bladder made specifically for floating logs? Or two large boat-floats on a short rope (under the log-end) that acts like a cradle. If those logs were just 6-10 inches higher they'd more effective, I think. It's a thought. I have enjoyed watching your channel over the years, and it's been interesting to see your evolution. I love the way (generally) that you speak to your audience. It's clear you try not to take our words/opinions too seriously, which I think is the core of internet-wisdom. Congratulations on find ways to unplug your family's life. I look forward to seeing your progress on the lake, and if you ever want to talk about using native plantings and trail design to lessen the erosion on your hillside, I'm happy to shoot the breeze. (the short version is, for your particular site - blueberries and sawdust, my friend) I'm a landscaper/builder by trade and a soil conservationist by passion. Thanks for teaching us Neanderthals a thing or two about woodworking.

I agree, being outside is vital... even if it's just to pull weeds. I've also believed programs like yours also help in some small way because it exposes an "outside" to us that many will never see. Perhaps a law should be created requiring everyone to have a hobby. Young people today don't know how to work with their hands except to play computer games, text and take pictures of their food.

It looks like you should be cutting up and clearing the wood that’s already laying on the ground instead of cutting standing lumber and just putting more on the ground. The best way to store wood is to leave it standing so it doesn’t rot, it’s a lot safer cutting trees when there’s not a bunch of wood laying everywhere. Nice dock, that should be a lot nicer to use and have access to both sides of your boat.
