Nice work! Just a friendly reminder to be cautious with your fingers. Always use safety precautions when operating the table saw, including adding a riving knife and using a fence for cutting. Hopefully, this was the last time you cut a piece of wood freely on the table saw-your fingers will thank you. Keep up the good work!

your doing a great job. idk if your asking for recommendations. try using the table saw and card scrapper when making bow ties, bow ties should be a stronger wood than table, use a leaf blower for cleaning the garage, and compressed air for the char before the brush. idk what wood for the table maybe I missed that part.

Adjust the shutter speed on your camera to get rid of the flickering lines
@torrancegreen3491
@torrancegreen3491 7 месяцев назад
Always make sure your shutter speed is at least 2x as much as your frame rate. So if you’re shooting in 24fps your shutter speed should be at least 1/50 or if you’re shooting in 60fps your shutter speed should be at least 1/120. Make sure it’s at least 2x the frame rate and go higher until the lines disappear, also adjust your iso to compensate for the darker image the higher shutter speed will create
@LateNightWoodworking
@LateNightWoodworking 7 месяцев назад
I do! I shoot 24 frames and 1/50 shutter! This was actually such a helpful tip I learned when starting filming. But yeah I think I’m just gonna figure out another light solution.
@torrancegreen3491
@torrancegreen3491 7 месяцев назад
I understand and I think your lighting situation is good it’s just the shutter speed. I’ve had occasions where I had to make my shutter speed higher to get the lines gone, maybe like 1/250 or something like that but they went away 100%. If you’ve already tried that then you may have to figure something else out but I truly don’t believe it’s your lights my man

came across you channel, great stuff and I'll follow along, one question I wanted to ask though, I am looking to purchase a router, seeing you have a palm router as well as a bigger one, which one in your opinion is more useful at your current small shop stage? keep it up, looking forward to the next vid lastly, just a suggestion, if you get new tools like the chisels you unboxed, maybe throw a link in the description for viewers to check out. i'd be very curious to have a look myself.
@LateNightWoodworking
@LateNightWoodworking 6 месяцев назад
Thank you so much! For the router I would say it really depends on what you want to be doing! I would say I use the Palm router more, because with every project I do the edge profiling with it, but when I do bigger stuff, I couldn’t get by without the big router to flatten the wood. If I had to pick one for a smaller shop I’d say the Palm router, cuz you can do things like making bow ties as well certain joinery. As for the links, that is a great suggestion and I will start to do that from here on out! Thanks!!
@moozshop
@moozshop 6 месяцев назад
@LateNightWoodworking awesome, that's good to know, I was leaning towards the palm router as well, now the desicion is only go battery or corded. Most likely I will get the plunge base with it though, that seems very useful.
@LateNightWoodworking
@LateNightWoodworking 6 месяцев назад
Definitely corded… it’s cheaper and it has more power. I was just thinking today how happy I am my orbital sander and router are corded.

Hey man, for your lighting situation. I would suggest getting the Barrina LED Shop lights. They are all LED, so they don’t pull much power. Plus you can tie them into each other, so you only have to use one outlet. It’s just a suggestion. I recently found your channel, and as a beginner myself you’re a joy to watch. Great work. With the lights you hit the nail on the head, it's the out of sync of the light's refresh compared to your camera's shutter - unfortunatly those strips are for pretty lights, not video work. Depending on what camera you're using it may have an "anti flicker" function in the menu. As you upgrade gear look for a dedicated studio light, even though they're all LED these days they will be more designed for video.

No riving knife and cutting freehand? I like what you're doing, but this is just plain reckless. One moment of distraction or tension in the wood and something is either cut off or hit very badly. The worst part is that you can't see it coming or react to it. Sorry man, but please, do yourself a favor and don't do this. A piece of plywood with 2 toggleclamps is all you need to do this safely. I speak from experience, i got away with 5 stitches in my chin. This was a small piece of wood and a lucky, lucky me..

You asked for our comments, and I'm going to take you at your word that you are sincere. You spent 3 minutes and 20 seconds (from 4:40 to 8:00) showing your clean-up. And not only did you go into the excruciating details of sweeping up your sawdust, you also included video of you wiping down your garage door. I spent nearly 50 years in broadcast media, and if there's one thing I learned it's this: Be entertaining, be informative, or be quiet. Your detailed clean-up was neither entertaining nor informative.
