@@J3unG Spear was literally a battlefield staple, even used in conjunction with early fire arms in the form of pike and shot formations, you're pretty shit lol.
@@J3unG It was the primary weapon of the samurai lmao. They were mounted archers in the early years and then evolved into more like knights that fought with yari both from horseback and dismounted. Spears beat most melee weapons in a 1v1 if the skill level is equal. The katana is heavily romanticized in pop culture and is the weapon most associated with samurai but it was really a secondary sidearm to either a ranged weapon or a spear most of the time. Swords would only be better indoors where spears would be restricted by the walls and/or ceiling.
@@J3unG "Once you close"... let's not take this for granted, eh? They probably trained to prevent that. Pikes were cumbersome, and you could easily get to your opponent once you dodged the point, but they were very popular up until the bayonet was invented (and the bayonet was just a shortened pike). You still have to dodge the point, along with all the other points, and avoid getting shot at and cut at. Not impossible, but not easy.
This may be late but I just found these videos. I get mine from www.little-raven.com/ I love the yari, it's so fun to train with at my group. Such a shame theres not many places that train with it often
