There arent enough artists. it seems like good times for Afrobeats at the moment, but for how long? Afrobeats needs to take risks or risk becoming stale. The decline of trap should come as a warning and Afrobeats is risking making the same mistakes fuelled by arrogance and the desire to milk the cow and make money. All I'm hearing mostly at the moment is same beats, same rhythm and same flows. There are only a few names in Afrobeats that stand out and when those names are gone where will the genre be? I hear Afrobeats, but I ain't hearing many artists that catch my attention and I ain't hearing the diversity of the African continent represented.

Afrobeats is not the same equivalent to all of those genres you mentioned. Unlike Reggae and Dancehall, Raggae and Afrobeats are only loosely connected. Afrobeats is its own thing and is inspired by many different music genres, not just reggae.

Well Reggae music is so powerful that they had to murder Bob Marley to kll the message. Reggae music is a powerful music but the powers that be want to crush Reggae because they know the power it has. Acting like they did all this themselves. If it wasn't for Jamaican music innovating the way it did and reggae/dancehall superstars like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killer, Sean Paul, etc then Afrobeats would sound very different and there might not have been the opportunities there for Afrobeats artists to gain success in Western markets

I think you need to shut the hell up. If it wasn't for Jamaica, African music would still be in the dark ages. Felat Kuti stole all his music from black American jazz. Burna, wizz kid, Davido and all the others have stolen all the jamaican style and created the current afrobeats style. Even your countrymen admit that afrobeats is heavily influenced by Jamaican music so have some respect for the country that pulled African music out of the dark ages and made Africa be seen for the first time in its existence. Without Reggae/dancehall there is no afrobeats because it is built off the back of Jamaican music.

You are crazy. Why would he be jealous of a music that has copied the jamaican style in every way? Buju has absolutely nothing to be jealous about. He it too big, he has done too much to be jealous about African music that has taken so much from Jamaica. What he is saying is 100% true. Afrobeats music has no soul. The current dancehall music also has no soul, but Reggae is a spiritual music that has uplifted the world. If you are going to take from Jamaica at least use the music you have taken to uplift the people in Africa like Reggae did.

​@@jackblack1801 Afrobeats has nothing to do with Reggae. It has some similarities with dancehall, but those same rhythms are also present in all traditional African music. My mom, from Ghana, used to listened to music with the same rhythms called "Highlife Music" which started in the 1800s. Afrobeats just takes traditional rhythms and makes the music smoother, chiller, and more modern. Jamaicans may be misinformed about African music.
