Sal, this is a great lesson. Thank you for taking us through it and for counting....and for the helpful links. It is a wonderful piece of music which makes it easier to practice...but still I am so slow and my golpes don't sound very confident. In fact sometimes although I am making the move, I can't hear them!! Oh well, I guess it takes time to master....Thanks again for your amazing videos and approachability.
My pleasure! Try tapping with the golpe fingers on their own in a slow steady beat. Keep the index finger curled up ready for a downstroke. Strike down across the strings with the index finger on every fourth tap. This is just a simple practice drill that might help.
Hi Sal, I wanted to know when you will do a video on how to practice. I think this is the most neglected part of any instrument. I am curious about how do you "start" to learn a piece, how do you break a piece apart to learn it, how fast should one practice, how long, how often, etc. Do you use any special techniques? a tutorial like this would be invaluable.
Ye's. That would make an interesting video. I think I will do that. You might be surprised to know how insecure I really am when I learn a new piece. My learning process is slow, methodical and maybe boring. My technique seems ok but I have a real problem with my brain and fingers synchronising. I'm really bad at missng notes and buzzing. It's like a neurological problem that other guitar players don't seem to have. I'm workin on corecting this with very slow practice. That's what I mean by boring.
@@hersoveela That is perfectly fine, and I would love to see your "behind scenes" approach. Lots of people come on RU-vid, show you how easy it is to do any specific pattern and sign off after 2 minutes and say see? you too can do this but this is an illusion of what it really takes. I am similar to you, i am really slow i think, and I think many players would gain more confidence in seeing that even accomplished players spend lots of time getting this part right. We cant magically learn a piece, but we can speed up the process with a good "learning" routine. I am always looking to speed up the learning curve with efficiency, as its helps in everything. I enjoy how you spend a lot of time explaining all the finer details, as this is what sets you apart from 90% of the people on RU-vid, as well all get better. Keep it up!
It depends. I would like to treat playing guitar like a sacred unchanging ritual that I perform in the same way and at the same time every day. But life gets in the way of this ideal so my answer is "it varies". I am retired from working for an employer but I keep myself very busy with work around the house. My wife still works so I mainly practice during the week when she is at work. I try to get a couple of hours in working on my technique with exercises and challenging passages. Then I maybe spend an hour working on a piece of music I want to learn. The remaining time before my wife gets home I work on a video or transcribe some music into Guitar Pro. It depends on what I'm working on and the next video I want make. On weekend days I usually don't play anything because I spend time with my hard working wife. Making a video is very time consuming so I need to set time aside for that also. Through all of this guitar related stuff I am currently revovating my house and then there is the large garden that needs to be attended to. I have no spare time to sit around playing video games or watching TV.
@@hersoveela Thank you for all those details. I see you are very busy. Personally, I am retired too and I like to be very busy. And it's a good way to stay young ! Doing nothing is so boring when there are so many interesting things to do that you didn't have time to do when you were working. I had to wait until retirement to start playing the guitar again that I gave up forty years ago. In the seventies, I had the opportunity to take some lessons with Luis Maravilla in Madrid and study with his method "Leccion de guitarra flamenca", but it is a long time ago and I have to start more or less from zero. So, your videos are very useful. Have a nice week-end.
@@hersoveela I have been a subscriber to your channel ever since the very beginning. Do you have any tips for how I can make my channel as successful as yours? I don't know why my content isn't getting anywhere.
@@hersoveela we'll be waiting for your brilliant work and we wish it to be as a guitar masterpiece version of españa cani. Be safe and thank you so much
I'm patiently waiting for the day to acquire knowledge via telepathy share. Theoretically the music is playable. Practically my fingers don't follow my commands 😅
